Title: Pfs3 v5.3
Post by: MichielP on April 21, 2011, 10:03:13 AM
I just uploaded PFS3 V5.3 on Aminet. This is the original PFS with the 5153 patches applied. It is a complete distribution, not the patches.

Enjoy

I can't find it listed.  The last PFS3 upload was dated 10 April for the 5.1 package and there's the 5.1 to 5.3 upgrade download available too dated 22 Nov 2011.  Nothing in the recent uploads section either.  I guess it takes a while to become available.

Well, he uploaded it -today-, so it should be available within a day or two.

I already installed the freeware version found on Aminet.  Now is it worth it for me to start over again with the newer version?  or is there a way to upgrade that is as clean as a fresh install of the whole system?

Thanks

Just replace the filesystem in the RDB and reboot. There's no need to reformat or anything like that.

Sweet thanks.  I spent 3 days reinstalling and getting that system reinstall the way I like it. wasn't looking to do that again :D

-=edit=-
Searched Aminet and didn't find it.  How long does it normally take to get on there after upload?

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.
Bought your product PFs, PFS2 and 3.
Still use it on all my SCSi disks on my A4k
This is the best file system AMIGA has had.
I tried to contact you for years to have this brought back so it can be further developed. Now I hope it will!!

I try to make a clean install with PFS3_53.lha from aminet but no go.
I have a install error :
CopyFiles: Problem with source file/drawer "data/eng/fs/PFS3ds
DOS Error type : unable to locate a file ar drawer

Now I reloaded the file from aminet again (This file is 359 downloaded from aminet now).
So after the reload I tryed again but .lha seems to be fine.
So I can't believe that after 359 downloads nobody noted that the arcive contents is not installing on the amiga @all.

tryed to upgrade my hardfile and tryed to install on a clean hardfile but it's not working here.
previous version installed like a charm (PFS3.lha  that's V5.1)

I realy like this nice pice of software from de heer M. van pelt :-)

i did download it but havnt had the time to use it yet.  it isnt a priorty sine i just installed the 5.1 version and spent like 3 days loading and tweeking to my likeing.  actully started over a few times because i had strange issues.

try the previous version and see if it gives u problems.  then upgrade insted.  im thinking most ppl did it that way since alot of ppl were waiting months for it and installed as soon as it was released.

I haven't tried it, but I've seen that kind of messages in other programs.
Did you try to install it again in the same place after it gives that message?

Typical error given by an old version of Installer -might be to blame.

Well I just installed it over the older version and followed the instructions to upgrade went smoothly on the WinUAE.  I will be trying it out tomorrow on the Real Amiga A1200 I'll let you know how that goes.

I also see the error CopyFiles: Problem with source file/drawer "data/eng/fs/PFS3ds" in UAE. To get around it I coped pfs3 to pfs3ds - does anyone know if this is correct for a vanila A600?

Thanks very much, though as a user who bought the original, I have to say I don`t need it - it`s still working fine after all these years ;)

Heartily recommended  and it`s nice to see such generousity !

BTW Michiel,
happy to continue to donate to your PFS file system. if you have a website/paypal or something. I really can't believe your generosity on this. Most extraordinary and most welcomed !
Hope this is not the last we see/hear from you.

Best wishes.

QuarterBackTools & ReOrg won't work with PFS3. Only with FFS.
