Title: Power XL HD Disk Drive patch
Post by: tasmanian guy on April 20, 2011, 12:12:51 PM
For whatever reason, call it a moment of madness I purchased a HD Power XL drive.  I dont know why I bought it but I think it stems from the fact I was envious of Amiga 4000 owners having high density drives as standard

It works fine as a double density drive, but requires a patch to use HD disks.

Now I downloaded the dms file, but it says there are no files to extract.

My email address is techguy at internode.on.net and I can supply the dms file and would appreciate the help of getting these files onto my Amiga 1200 rack.

Thanks muchly!

Quick note, you only need HighDensityPatch to write to HD disks. Reading works fine without it.

Have you tried writing the DMS directly back to disk? (http://aminet.net/package/util/arc/dms111)

I tried to use the os3.9 unarc gui and it says there are no files to extract.

I understand that I can read HD disks, but I dont have Amiga HD disks, so I'd like to format some PC ones so I can use them for the Amiga...well to at least prove the floppy drive works.

DMS is a compressed disk image file, not an archive. I don't think unarc supports it. You either need something a program that can mount it as a disk image or undms it to an actual floppy or RAD disk.
