I already have a A1200 with a 3.5" HD installed. I did the installation 11 years ago and everything works fine. I used a cable that a friend of mine made back then.
Now, I am trying to find a similar cable. 44->40 pin with an extension to power up the 3.5" HD from the disk drive power socket.
Any idead where to find such cable.
Thanks

Hello manicx,
I never found this cable, so I did it myself soldering a 2,5 connector on a 3,5 normal cable.
It took to me about 2 hours of work to do it properly. Be carfull !

Hello manicx :-)
It would not be a good idea to power a 3.5" Hard Drive from the motherboard floppy power connector as the printed circuit trace at these place are simply too thin to cope with the current the HD will request.
You can easilly burn these traces and damage your motherboard, sure this will take some time but it will arrives!

Most hardware shops that still support Amiga will sell this cable. Eyetech, Power Computing are at least two I can think of in the UK. In Europe, KDH and Vesalia probably sell it too.
