There isn't really a process for it and certainly deleting posts is not something any forum usually does when a user leaves (as it leaves every thread they participated in full of gaps). If you are determined to burn your bridges, you can:

1) Remove avatar, signature and all other personal information from your profile.
2) Empty your private messages then turn the feature off.
3) Change your email address in your profile to something non-existent.
4) Change your password using a strong password generator to create some random PW you haven't got a chance in hell of remembering and copy/paste it. If your browser asks you if you want to store it, decline.
5) Log out and clear any cookies for good measure.

You have now rendered your account unusable.

Before you take the dip, however, bear in mind that closing down an account and resurfacing under another user can be frowned upon in the absence of any reasonable justification for the identity switch. Multiple accounts for the same individual are generally not welcome.

For those that wish to, the recommended method is that you simply stop posting and the door is left open in case you change your mind later. We all occasionally need a break from different aspects of our lives even I've taken the odd sabbatical from the site ;)

Why would you even want it removed after 8 posts? Just don't log in and continue your life.

Vbullitin's adminstration has the option of deleting users, so it can be done.

I'm sure it is, but I'm not so sure it's amiga.org policy to delete user accounts. It never used to be, at any rate.

Here the official Amiga.org way to remove your account, seems fair & reasonable to me... :)

Amiga.org User Policy (http://www.amiga.org/index.php?pageid=user_policy)

Might have to wait a wee while, so just sit back and don't post anything for this short time and bobs your uncle you will be deleted... :D

You can want but you have accepted the rules here, you can't demand anything. It's up to sitemanagers to either keep (preferred) or delete your messages. Remember, deleting messages may render many threads very hard to understand plus something useful for someone by you will be deleted aswell.

Yeah, we really need to update that as it should happen alot sooner. Like,"When the Earth has grown cold and the Sun has turned red or in about 5 billion years." Hmm, probably should keep the original wording. We might be hosted off planet by then.

Is there something in the user agreement here when I signed up that says that I don't have the right to have my account deleted?. That seems kind of wrong.

You want your account deleted because of the CommodoreUSA news? I can disable your account now if you like. Deleting all your posts might corrupt the database so this not a good course of action.

No don't disable it. I'll just do what Karlos suggested. There are a lot of good people here but this place is being over run with a small group of folks that are going on a path that I strongly don't agree with. Time to move on........

So, you are going to poison the pot by manually deleting all of your posts. Brilliant! Moth holed topics.

Don't do that, mate. This is the Amiga user community. You'll never get more than half a dozen of us in one place at once to agree on what day of the week it is, let alone what the direction of our platform shod be. It has never been any different since the original commodore went under. If you made it through the next gen fights, this is nothing. If that argument doesn't sway you then consider the fact that by leaving, you're only helping this "small group" by leaving.
Personally, I reckon it's best to let each to their own. The CUSA stuff doesn't rouse my interest, but to others it may.

If you really want it to improve you could just tell them to shut up. If everyone did it it would be a problem :)

Hi,

@spihiunter,

Hope I am not one of those small group of folks, if I am sorry to cause you a problem.

I look at it this way, Karlos causes me a problem just about every time I get on here, he ruins all my fun, maybe one of these days I will ask how to remove his profile.

spihunter banned?  WTF!

And what is up with all the freaking yellow water squirting lately?  Is it Aorg's fault that CUSA is out there and that some members have a hard-on (good or bad) for them?

FFS, grow a pair and put on some big boy undies.

There has always been a wealth of information to be had here at A.org, as with all sites (forums) indifference to various subject matter can create some hostilities amongst is members.  It is how we choose to engage the indifference's that make or break the A.org experience.  As for leaving a site just because some cannot play well with others is not enough for me to leave a great Amiga site.  I'm staying!!!!!!:hammer:

If its any consolation, Im staying. But if I was leaving, I guess I'd just stop going to the site, rather than making a big fuss about it.

I do have to wander what all the fuss is about. As already said, if you don't want to be here then leave. Why start a thread and makes posts about how you want to remove posts and threads you have participated in? Is it for attention or to try and get things your way by a form of passive aggressive behaviour?

I don't get it. Like it? Stay. Don't like it? Leave. What does one gain from deleting posts anyway? If they were helpful posts it would be to piss other people off and remove valuable information. If they weren't valuable then who cares.

Forums are about communities. Communities talk about more than just one topic and we all have our own opinions. In this case our interest in Amiga (no matter what part of the Amiga it is - Classic, NG, Software, Hardware or even just reminiscing on childhood memories). There are separate sections to cover the different interests/questions. Don't like a topic or thread? Don't read it. Simple.

The more I think about it the more this type of response confuses me.

Not sure about A.org but some forum software assigns all posts from a deleted user to that moderator.

Anyway you shouldn't even be allowed to edit out all your old posts.....not like you can take back what you say in the real world so why on here?

Why would you opt out of this place with helpful info like that available?
