What sort of controller devices do you use with your miggy today? What kind of mouse, joystick, pad etc?
-
Ergosticks
Sega Genesis pads
PS/2 Lasermouse
And various other joysticks and pads.
-
Same here, Sega pad's all the way.:)
-
On my A1200: Logitech optical USB mouse with a DB9-USB adapter from ebay and both a Quickshot Joystick and a Competitor PRO CD32 Pad switchable with a Robo Mach2 device.
On my A2000: Alfa Data trackball as a mouse and no joystick or pad at the moment.
On my A500 Plus: my old 3d party Primax mouse bought as a replacement of the tank mouse in 1995 and another model of Competitor Pad or an Amiga Hyperpad.
My other miggies are not hooked at the moment.

I figured I should answer my own question too :)
Got 2 splitter devices (one is a roboshift, the other looks like a kitbash). Each port has a mouse plugged in (one is an A1200 style mouse, that I love to death, the other is a tank mouse) and a joystick or pad.
The ones I use primarily:
A new comp pro (nice, accurate, but only primary buttons)
A wico bat handle (annoyingly does not work as a two button stick(
CD32 comp pro pad. (excellent but a bit worn out, so you have to push the buttons pretty hard)
Gravis gamepad (amazingly awesome)

How are people getting optical mice to work? As serial devices with a serial to PS2/USB adaptor and a driver? If so what driver?
-
Buy a PS/2 mouse adaptor from your local Amiga dealer. No driver required (unless you want to activate the scroll wheel).
-
A1200 and CD32 both have Brand new Amiga mice. Raymond has a box filled with unused original mice. I have CD32 Joypads that I use for games. And Genesis pads modified to work with both buttons.
-
Competition Pro 5000 (regular ones and minis)
Zipsticks
Tac II
I seem to be rotating between the above with prefering which to use.
-
i have about 60 joysticks (just for the Amiga) alot of them are Epyx 500XJ (15 still new in box), several Star Cursors, Heaps of Quickjoys, Wico's and Quickshots, 5 spliters, trackball, about 12 orginal mice + 3 PS2/USB mice adapters with Logitech Led mice.
And that just the amiga list the Megadrives have there own Joysticks as with the Saturns and SNES

Hi,
Go to Amigakit.
http://www.amigakit.com
They have 2 or 3 items for the Amiga to use modern day mice and keyboards. I use a Microsoft mouse and keyboard on my Amiga 4000. I done did wore out my keyboard, and I refuse to pay the prices that ebay is asking for an ORIGINAL AMIGA 4000 KEYBOARD.
These items are cheap and work very well.

Hi,
I use a Saitek game pad and a Microsoft mouse with my Amiga Forever, works great and have no problems.

Starcursor joystick. I really dont like many joypads, theyre too innacurate, double so on the amiga where jump is up more often than not. There are exceptions, especially with more recent styles of joypads (xbox360, playstation with analogue stick, etc.). The megadrive, sms, etc. style pads that use a dpad I really cant stand though. Even the much loved competition pro pads I cant stand. As for mouse, Im still using the original style amiga mouse :)
-
Comp Pro and Wico Joysticks ('cos they last). I use gamepads on the Playstation.
-
Honey Bee CD32, have a couple of them..
Competition Pro, commodore mouse and amiga mouse.
-
Competition Pro5000, Zipstick, TAC-II, le Stik, BOSS, Quickshot 2, Competition Pro CD32 pad, Sega SF2 6 button pad, and one the has a pistol grip (forget the name).
edit:I'm assuming we mean REAL Amiga not emulators.

Picked up a genuine sega master system pad last night but... only works with 1 button. Damnation.

Did you resolder the pins first or just plug it in an amiga and use it? Because you have to make a small modification to the inside before it will funcion right in an amiga. I have about 6 of these and modded most myself.

This is someones Adventure in making the contorler work. And should help you get at lease a 2 button controler.
I personally didn't to the resistor and Mine works. With the 1200. But now that I have CD32 Pads I'm using those for Nastalgia :D

No soldering yet, though my mate who gave it to me, has some soldering gear, so maybe that'll be an adventure.
I do have a CD32 one, but its kind of worn out. You have to push the buttons really hard for it to work proper.

Thats what I figured, but for what its worth, for emulation, I have a logitech PS2 looking gamepad, as well as an actual PS2 adapter.
I only really do emulation for C64 though.
-
You could have just bought a Sega Genesis then you would not need to modify anything.
-
Honey Bee CD32, have a couple of them..
Competition Pro, commodore mouse and amiga mouse.
Rock on, yssing! The Honey Bee pads are great.... Deluxe Galaga uses EVERY button! ;)
Alas, I only have one.. and many Amiga's ....
Dad's (RIP) Amiga's all had Epyx 500XJ joysticks. I have a couple Sega pads, but 3rd party.. I don't like the feel of 'em....
For mousing duties, mostly beige and black Amiga brand mice, one old C= one from a dead A500.. :(
I have an AlfaData 'crystal' trackball, Amiga/ST switchable....
I had a USB light-up 'novelty' mouse w/ an adapter I bought off of Ebay.. but it stopped working.....
I really want an ArtPad for Dpaint5, and ArtEffect!!

well, this one was free, but I'll look for a genesis pad.

I primarily use Atari 2600 joysticks with mine. Either originals or a Wico bat-handled one. Sega pads once in a while, but I prefer joysticks.
Original applicable mouse and keyboard all the way. I like my legacy machines to "feel" a certain way. Much of that feeling gets lost when changing out the things you first lay your hands on > input devices. Having said that, I don't require my MacMini running MorphOS to use an Amiga keyboard or mouse although I did hook an old IBM keyboard (the clicky kind) up to the Mini last night for shits and grins. Won't be keeping it on there, mostly because of its size, but I really do prefer white/beige keyboards to this chinsey looking and feeling modern black crap.
