And both on Amiga (ECS & AGA):roflmao:
Even the mighty Nintendo 64 remake pales into insignificance after you've played Stardust and Super Stardust AGA :)
(PC versions are DOS so hardly anybody ever found a config.sys setup that worked before giving up so ner ner)

Call me crazy, but I honestly prefer the minimalist vector look and dedicated-circuit sounds of the original to any of the ports or remakes. (Vectrex had a pretty good unofficial port, though.)

I'm kind of surprised it would take the power of either of those machines to reproduce that games.
Personally, I always liked the NES version of Galaga (if you want to discuss good recreated arcade games).

I was pretty thrilled when I played it first time on vacation in Canary Islands 79/80. 30+ years...

I have an original Asteroids cabinet :) I meant retro remakes, as in modernizing it. SS AGA would have swallowed quarters like crazy if you put it in a JAMMA cabinet in 95. It's a design issue, without tunnel sections the PS3 version gets boring.
Now all we need is the same genius quality remakes of Gauntlet and Donkey Kong (Zaxxon remake = NEO GEO Viewpoint)

Donkey Kong should be fairly easy. If I'm not mistaken, the original ran on a Z-80.

Stardust was awesome.
Does Transplant count?

AsteroidsReg92 by Mike Seifert is the best, for me. It does crash sometimes, but it was really cool, screenmode friendly too. All classic vector looking, though shapes were actually bitmaps. And, comes with the C source if some one wants to mess around.

I've never played that game. Always on the lookout to sample little gems within the Retrogenius 18Gb Amiga game archive I have ta :)

Magic, will try that out ta :)
Tempest 1200 on a 28mhzor above AGA machine is really nice and IMO better than T2K on the Jaguar in some ways.
