Hiya, somebody on the IBrowse mailing list is giving away a lot of disks! YahooGroups (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ibrowse/message/9425)

I bet they are all full of pirate software. :-o

I bet they are all full of pirate software.
Eh? How Noble? Who would have time to pirate 4000 disks? If that possibility bothers somebody, they CAN erase them. :-o What if you receive Lightwave, Scala400 ,Imagine, Aladdin4D Dopus etc. on original disks? A score at $5 for 100. I really don't know, but it SOUNDS like they are mostly blank. ASk the guy...
-
Eh.... probably sold as blank. Who knows what's actually on them, anymore? Years of downloads and test disks, work disks, backups, etc... Really, what can you do with an old collection that large? Sell them in bulk, or, my choice, let them age in the closet.
Who knows how many of them ever worked, or were just bad cracks, or whatever, to begin with. Let alone how many have deteriorated with age. ;-) Might be a fun treasure hunt for someone with enough free time, though.
I've opted to let my set of thousands of old DS/DD disks age in my closet. My fiancee's little brother likes to pick through the stacks now and then. But other than that, they just age, cuz I'm too lazy to sort them, and I can't bring myself to scrap them or sell them in bulk.

Since I got back into the Amiga, I've bought a few 'job lots' of Amiga stuff from people. Almost invariably, you get a few hundred disks with each one, I'll never get round to looking at them, there's probably pirated software galore on them....but I don't really play games, and will never use them anyway...
Its a sad fact that 80% of Amiga users when I was young, played pirate games. I understand the moral standpoint, but who cares about a few pirate games festering on some disks that will never get put inside a disk drive?
-
Actually, most of them are full of pirate software, but I didn't pirate them.
I got the disks several years ago when I bought an A1200 from a guy, and the disks plus an enormous fire-proof cabinet that housed them were part of the deal. He was a US Air Force guy who had traveled the world, and unfortunately had pirated a lot of games and etc.
I'm not a big gamer myself, mostly a video guy who uses my Amigas mostly for Toasting/Flying, so I haven't even inserted most of the disks into a computer. I did try a few that looked appealing, but most that I tried wouldn't operate correctly in my computer because they wouldn't work with NTSC or AGA or OS 3.x or with a graphics card or whatever.
I do have a ton of commercial software that I bought brand new - Toaster (every upgrade), IFX 4.1, PgS, AdPro, DOpus Magellan, IBrowse, AWeb, FW, Final Calc, Organizer, SBase, STFax, and the list goes on and on. Then I also have a lot of legitimate s/w sitting on a shelf that I don't use anymore that I can't even remember. Very few games, but I'm not a pirate.
I didn't put the disks up for sale on eBay because I thought that maybe an Amiga software developer may need them, since DS/DD disks are practically impossible to find nowadays. I posted the same message on just about every Amiga mail list that I subscribe to.
Anyway, I think I've found someone that may want them. If anyone else wants some, please let me know.
