Title: FS: Graphics Cards
Post by: motrucker on March 28, 2011, 08:48:13 PM
I have several AGP slot type graphics cards that may work with various Amiga upgrade systems:

Nvidia 5200 w/128Mb RAM - An ASUS V9520  used but looks and works great
DVI, SVGA, and S-Video outputs - no cables or software (all easily available)

Nvidia MX400 w/128Mb - VGA, and S-Video Out used but works quite well

ATI Rage (pci card) w/32Mb RAM VGA out only - used, but works like new

No reasonable offer refused - I'll ship anywhere, changing only the real USPS costs

BUMP

These are all tested and work. Honestly good cards.  The 5200 is even good by today's standards!

The 5200 wasn't good back in 2003. It hasn't improved with age.

Theyre all supported by AROS, and both the GF5200 and GF MX400 work with Amithlon (so does the ATI Rage, but only partial acceleration). I think the ATI card also has 2d support for MOS. The biggest problem I guess is that theyre just not worth anything. Well, maybe $10-$15 for the 3. If there's people that'll pay more please let me know as I have a shedload of these types of cards that I'd like to get rid of too  :)

There was actually 2 different gpus with the 5200 monikor. The 2nd version was considerably better than the 1st, although still a budget card.

Surely these AGP cards are the "worst of the best" cards and these days are worthless?

No, there was only the NV34 based GeForce FX 5200. An entry level card in 2003. Not good by today's standards.

Both were NV 3x based, but there was 2 different 5200's, one released about 6 months after the 1st, both sporting different ram/gpu clocks and minor architectural differences. I still have versions of both types.

So that's why no one's interested.
The 5200 is not that bad a card however. This one is an ASUS 9520 and when I tested it in an old HP I just found (AMD 2600 @2GHz w/768 Mb RAM) it played DOOM3 and Painkiller (Heaven's got a hitman) with no problem (running Windows XP service pack 2).
They'l sell on eBay, or make good targets at the very least...

I never knew that. It sort of explains why when I moved from my 5200 (which seemed to perform better than the reviews I'd seen) to a 6200 I got very little performance boost.

The 5200 was NV34 - the 6200 was NV43
Many times its more about the software (drivers, etc) than the card...

And, of course, there are two 6200s. The first a crippled 6600 and the later based on its own die. Leave it to Nvidia to make it complicated.

last three digits are always performance related. Radeon 2950 etc much better than 4250 ditto 5950 vs 6200. See?
