Hi guys another stupid question!
My A4000D is currently running Workbench 3.0 and 3.0 ROM's.
Having it apart currently I was thinking of putting 3.1 ROM's in from Amigakit. If I did put 3.1 ROM's in now would WB 3.0 still work? I can't afford to put in a new 4GB CF HDD yet........any ideas?
Thanks guys, you are the best!!!!!

Seriously, don't waste your money.
Just Blizkick the 3.1 ROMs into your Cyberstorm's fast RAM.
Spend the money on a Deneb or something else.

Yes, you will be able to run WB3.0 on Kickstart 3.1 ROMs.
Try AmigaKit for some replacement ROMs.

Carefull buying ROM's, I haven't checked Amigakit for a while, but last I know they were only selling A4000T rom's. While these do work in your A4000, your standard 3.0 installation will not work with these rom's (it will work fine with regular 4000D 3.1 rom's).
This is because the 4000T rom's are missing workbench.library, which in turn means you need a special set of installation disks which has the lib on disk and installs it to LIBS: on your boot drive.

Can't I get a copy of workbench.library and copy it to the LIBS folder before installing new ROM's?

You'd have to buy A4000T 3.1 disks to get it.

Ah.....I see!

Of course you can probably (definately) find WB3.1 ADF files on the Internet which you can write back to real floppy disks...

I'm fairly certain that all 3.1 disksets have workbench.library on them. Check your existing installation, you might find it's there already.
