Reckon the title should speak for itself... :)
But just in case... that means no Religion, Philosophy, World Disasters, MicroSoft, Apple (especially Apple) and anything non-Amiga in this thread please... :)
(Bet you it can't be done... ;))

Amiga? What's an Amiga? And what has it got to do with this forum?
No seriously what has 'The Amiga' got to do with this forum?
I only use this site for the pancakes and now people are talking about 'Amiga'. I'm confused
-
Just won a little bet I had with myself that you'd be the first one to reply... ;)
-
Yeah, I must admit Amiga talk has been a bit light here lately. Personally Ive been a little quieter than usual 'cos Im grumpy with my a1200 :)
-

Not hard to figure out who would reply first when a certain someone watches the "who's online" 26 hours a day 8 days a week ;)
-
@ Fishy_Fiz
Haven't you managed to get anything sorted yet... :(
@ Kesa
And that's while you're watching me watching you 27 / 9... ;)
-
I am always watching you Franko. You are the universe to me. I even wrote your name on my underpants in your honour :mickeymouse:
-
That could cause some problems if you get lost some day after your mum drops you off at nursery school, when they check your drawers they'll think your me and ship you off to Scotland... :D

There's always one isn't there...
Look matey if you want to talk Amiga then bugger off to an Apple site and talk about there... :madashell:
(Seems only fair if you ask me... ;))

Me raises hand. I used Amiga just yesterday to check my e-mail, read Amiga news and watch CSI.
Then I solved a puzzle of BoxWorld, watched some more movies and went to sleep.
My next project with the Amiga is learning OpenGL and creating 3D worlds for exploration (3rd person).
-
Short answer: "Erm...yes?"
-
@ Fishy_Fiz
Haven't you managed to get anything sorted yet... :(
Nah, it's a bit of a pain. The main problem is just me getting sick of the tedious process I have to go through at the moment to get files onto my amigas harddrive. Got a network card hoping to make things easier, but thats giving me grief of it's own :)
Doesn't matter, I'll get it sorted. Ive been meaning to do one last manual transfer of files for now (gonna go overkill so I can hopefully get by until I get my network sorted), but Ive been too busy the last few days procrastinating :)
-
@ drHirudo
Watch CSI !!! BoxWorld !!! Watched some movies !!!
Methinks your not using a real Amiga somehow... :(
@ Gryfon
Must be a real Amiga user, simple, concise and eloquently put... :)
-
every bloody day:afro:
-
I seem to find more real "Amiga" talk over at EAB. This seems to have turned into more of a site for "Social Butterflys". I think that started when the people running and setting up the rules here, no longer owned or used Amiga's.
-
Well we do sometimes talk about MaxiPads unfortunately.
:)
-
@ drHirudo

My AmigaOne is real Amiga. MPlayer replays movies just fine. BoxWorld (my version) was written on Amiga 4000 7 years ago. I recently recompiled it for AmigaOS 4 and other platforms.
-
I use my girlfriend every day.
-
I bring the Amiga or MorphOS up anytime I can when relevant. In conversation the other day, I just learned that a coworker used to run an Amiga BBS board way back when. Was fun hearing him talk about his A2000, his affinity for the platform, how much RAM cost, etc. :)
-
But just in case... that means no Religion, Philosophy, World Disasters, MicroSoft, Apple (especially Apple) and anything non-Amiga in this thread please... :)
But what about ...Broccoli!? You didn't say anything about no Broccoli.
-
On a casual basis. At the moment I am quietly content that the Amiga will have a long future, now that the FPGA Arcade is running smoothly (as seen on the videos). Maybe the site will lose a lot of the hardware hunting posts and the "look at the prices on ebay" posts now. Of course "how do I get warez?" posts from new users may increase though.

Anyone Here Still Use Or Talk About The Amiga ?
Yes, I'm a big fan of Penélope Cruz ;-)
-
I played Civilization last night on my miggy
-
I met an old friend of mine who used to be in the local Amiga club at an Apple iPad 2 demo a couple days ago.
-
hmm... amiga? Yes! I use it everyday! i browse internet, i read mail, i render 3d gfx, i even play 3d cool games! on my iimac(*) obviously! but the amiga stands there, in front of me, under the monitor! ...so it can stand higher! Soon i'll buy a second amiga so i can take my monitor even higher! only amiga... makes it possible...
(*) iimac is the quintessence of imac. those 2 ii before the name mean this is not the classical imac but something beyiond. something that really turns pcs people full of envy. my iimac turns on and off and sometimes it makes this alone: steve jobs has a remote control that various moments in the day he clicks and then my iimac is gone dead. and if am ii working on some important document? this is not iimportant! The Big relative (we hate big brother!!!) thinks for me and this is cool! With my iimac life is easier! ii gave my brain to an apple shop. they will use iit for science. mabe not but they'll give me a new brain app!cool, don't you think??

I just awarded this thread a single star! Black hole wasn't on the list.
Ok, I got my C64 MIDId to my Amiga last night and played around, the new DualSID thing I got worked perfectly, good sound.
-
Well, yes I like to use my Amigas most days of a week. Now that I apperently managed to destroy my A1000, while attempting some kickrom hack (damn, shouldn't touch that soldering iron), I was little down and didn't touch these things for a while. Well life must go on, and maybe one day will repair her. So now it's A1200/indivision/030 and A500Plus/A590 in front of me to entertain.
-

Once I get the rest of my man cave cleaned out. In the process of making room, I'll be setting up the table to hold 3 computers. 2 - oh, wait I can't mention them on this thread. They'll be running MAME for fun and educational software for my kids and my A1200 which is full of WHDLoad for my sons to experience all those old Amiga games I love. It was on the floor by an old TV, I'll get it back on my multisync and in a better home.
So, I talk about Amiga with them and how it was ahead of it's time. I talk with them about innovation and how much technology today is about marketing. They really like a lot about Amiga and don't understand why someone couldn't sell a little Amiga compatible system today that just had a lot of the old games embedded.
So Franko, How did I do avoinding my best Grumpy Smurf impression of I hate, (any of the above listed items)! LOL!
-
@ Hardlink
But what about ...Broccoli!? You didn't say anything about no Broccoli.
Broccoli falls under the "anything non Amiga" wording, everyone knows you only use broccoli for cleaning the loo... :)
@ Whabang
I use my girlfriend every day.
From what I've heard, so does half the neighbourhood... :D
@ TheGoose
I just awarded this thread a single star! Black hole wasn't on the list.
That one was corny even by your standards... I've just taken your gold star away for that, now go stand in the corner... ;)
@Nlandas
As you didn't mention what you didn't mention then I can only assume that what you didn't mention was one of the unmentionables, so therefore you did pretty well, I think... :)
PS:I've just came back from church where they were philosophising on the two main computer systems Apple & Microsoft and how the money they have between them could solve all the world disasters... :D
Erm... think I'll ban meself from this thread now... ta, ta... ;)
-

I'm turning into my father, :(
Don't worry it happens to us all eventually... :)
Look at me, with me slippers and hot water bottle and favourite pipe sitting here swearing like a trooper at all the crap on the telly and complaining about me creaky joints... :(
Oh... hang on... I've taken after me mother... :(
-
Still use my A500 for gaming, althought it's killing me at the moment with hardware woes. It may need to retire :(
Don't talk about it much, but my nearly 4 year old loves playing SWIV :)
A500 hardware donations required ;)

Hi,
For a minute here I thought I was at AmigaWorld, but darn it, it's only Franko.
trying to talk Amiga again on the Amiga.org site. What a waste of broadband width

Hi,
I would like to report that the author of this subject matter has failed to release a XXX rating on this post, he is talking about nude Amiga subject matter. This kind of material shouldn't be allowed on Amiga.org

Hi,
I wouldn't say that, if you have an old star 1000 color dot matrix printer and a 2400 baud modem, you could possibly download porn shots and print them out in color. I remember I used to be able to do 2 a day with that equipment.
I also enjoyed playing soliton, and mega ball, and was always trying out new versions of doom to see if they will work.
If you like doing data basing you can log in all your Amiga floppies, and pc floppies, I use pen pal for that.
If you are a mod collector you can collect and play mods on your favorite Amiga.
The Amiga still has a lot of use today, it won't be able to play games like fallout3, or surf the internet and show all the video's on the internet, but it all depends what you like to do, be creative, and if you really get tired of it, take one and smack Karlos up alongside the head, and say that one is from smerf for spoiling his trolling fun.
but
then again if you hit Karlos in the head even with a good A2000 the only thing you would break would be the A2000, and that would be a waste of a good Amiga.

@smerf
I know. Dont get me wrong, I do hop on WinUAE (My Amiga 1200 is still in pieces and hasnt been touched in over a year) and mess with octamed and listen to the old modules or play some of Psygnosis games.
I was just trying to be a smart ass and just talk like Franko. I only normally just check out whats happening on Amiga.org, but just gets very old when he inputs on every single thing/thread. Reckon he has a wee bit of a problem.
@Franko
Dont bother replying. Don't care. Don't waste your time. I don't have to like everybody. Only stating you are very annoying.
-
Now that my A1200 is fully working again with its nice 80GB HDD i can starting to use it more and more... even the kids are asking when they can play on it. I think after this weekend it will be fully finished and i can get started on the A2000 upgrades and fixes.. Yeah!!!!
O BTW HAM FTW....
P.S. anyone played WoW would get that... :D
-
I was playing Railroad Tycoon on my Amiga just few days ago.
-
I always wanted to play Railroad tycoon but I never quite figured it out. Think I'll need to find a manual somewhere.
-
Anyone Here Still Use Or Talk About The Amiga ???
I do both.
-
My amiga is in another country... and she has my wife with her too!!!
-
Yep.. I use every night to write some Cars Articles for the Web compreautomovil.com, visit forums, check email, news, and more in Internet. All this under cool Mods music atmosphere..
Sometimes Mp3s too. (depending on my mood)
My Amiga its like my pen to write.. and help me many times to be creative..
And ofcourse play WHDload Games.
Incredibly Amiga can still be used nowdays.
Anyway if you can`t use, or not want, you lazy to use another machine (in addition to your PC) , does not seem practical, thats ok.. i think if you not use you Amiga nowdays (or not have any Amiga)..does not mean you're not Amigan.
Hardly another computer soon appear as Amiga in the whole concept that means, Currently it seems to me Currently I think Amiga may be more a philosophy or a way to take computer science. All the people I know who was Amiga user has a different way of seeing what concerns computers.

You sir, are a genius!
You have invented a new way to get rid of your wife without the messy illegalities of murder or the extremely high cost of divorce!
:roflmao::lol::laughing: :rofl: :biglaugh: :cool:
-
Well, yesterday on my AmigaOne I figured out how to set a log of an already committed revision on a Subversion repository, too bad that the log still doesn't show up in the Google Code "Updates" page. I have worked a bit on MPlayer, on the "out of sync" problem some videos are having. Talked to my brother on Skype (via imo.im), sent him via sprend.com a video I grabbed from Youtube he couldn't see (because of Youtube national locks). Plus the usual email and forum posting.

Very annoying, I must be slipping, need to get up a bit earlier and practice more... :)
PS:I even wrote this on my Amiga in ED and imported it to the Mac just for the sake of this thread... ;)

I am in an odd situation. We are being hacked by my roomy's x wife (and friends) so completely that nothing can be done with the windows or Mac machines here. My Amiga still works however! I guess they can't figure out how to hack her. I am damn glad I have at least one machine that works!
PS - sorry to interject a serious note...

A1000, A2000, A3000, A4000, CD-32, CDTV, or SAM440, or minimig.

You left out the A1200, bet it's an A1200, it's bound to be an a 1200, I'm pretty sure it must be an A1200... :)

Hi,
@LordSpunky,
That is one ugly monitor you have there. No not the one sitting top of the Amiga, the one that is showing the OS 4.0 screen. I would use some black paint and try to cover up that insignia on it. TRULY DISGUSTING.
What is your OS 4.0 running on. I get so frustrated, because I have a Amiga 1200 with a ppc board and can't get OS 4.0 to run on it. I have been thinking lately of just throwing in the towel and doing the one act that I thought I would never do.
BUY AN APPLE PRODUCT
to see what OS 4.0 is really like.
but
which apple product.

@ smerf
You didn't manage to get OS4.0 running, why not !!!, I thought you had it all working ages ago... :(
-
Why?
@Kesa
Because I want to know if they are using one of the newer ones or one of the classics and Franko is probably right it will probably be either an A1200 or an A500, because I forgot them, I know it isn't an A600 since nobody back in the day they came out considered them a real Amiga, we all considered them as a cut down low cost piece of trash.
Only Franko would notice that.

Hi,
@Kesa & Franko,
No, I haven't blocked you out, I almost blacked out from laughing so hard.
A piece of bread, and a dead guinny buried badly.
LOL, LOL, LOFL,
but
it is my pet guinny hiding under the straw, but Franko you were a lot closer than Kesa because Jenny is dead, but she is buried out in the yard with her own head stone. She was the sweetest most behaved ginny I ever had. She was smart too!!! you could sit her on the table, give her her food, and she would wait until everyone sat down to eat before she started. Will miss her indeed.
Hey Franko old friend, found out what was causing my A4000 not to work, about a year and a half ago I bought a buddha board from Amigakit, while I was installing it I was eating a snickers bar, guess what I found my snickers bar, it was resting on top of my 68040 CPU. Spent all day licking the snickers off the cpu, dried it out and it works perfectly now.
Last night I tried again to install OS4.0 on my A1200, tried hitting the escape key on the A1200 when turning it on and cannot get the computer to see the PPC rom, I may have to go back to a regular hard drive and disable my CF drive. Will see, I haven't given up yet, would of gotten to it today, but licking a snicker bar off my CPU took a lot of time.

Awe, sorry about Jenny I've got 6 wee grave stones at the bottom of me garden where my pet hamsters are buried, although my sister says I should really wait till they die first before burying them, ah well we live & learn I suppose... :(
Gonna give you a quick PM about OS4.0, hang about a tick... :)

Sorry about that, know all about that stuff, you take a swig, and it gets in your nose starts to bubble and you spit it everywhere, been there done that.
but
On a happy note, you can buy an Amiga PS2 keyboard module from Amigakit and can use cheap PS2 keyboards on your miggy. Bought one last year I sure did when I had the same thing happen to me, I spit pepsi all over my Amiga keyboard, checked on ebay for another one and found out they where going for $49 and up. So I went to Amigakit, bought a lyra module plugged in one of my old PS keyboards in it and have been happy ever since.
AND
Just think if you happen to spit on your keyboard again, you just lost a cheap, highly replaceable keyboard.
But never, and I mean never place a snickers on your 68040 board, those damn things get hot.

Ok, and now something totally irrelevant, 'cos it's ON-TOPIC:
Yes, I do. My Commodore Amiga 2000 systems are fired up and used at minimum once a week. Not much talk about them, 'cos they just run. Most regular update: Peter's icon.library. which helps especially my 68030-based A2000 to cope with it's 8Bit-PicassoII-P96-Workbench.
If I assume my so-called "Amiga NG" systems as Amigas (Bplan PegasosII, ACube SAM440ep) then it's "yes, too". In contrast to my 68k-Amigas they are used daily - sometimes both of them, sometimes one of them. And I talk about them very often, 'cos there's a lot of things going on and a lot to learn.

@Franko - I may do at some point....I'll take some more photos for you.
I will be on your RetrObright post at some point asking you EXACTLY how to mix and apply the paste.........;)
@smerf - That Apple product is a 27" iMac Intel i5 Quad Core running Mac OS & Windows 7 - I wanted an Amiga background found the OS4 one and use that.......just to remind me everyday how much I love them!
