Title: Best way to get in contact with Amigakit?
Post by: orb85750 on March 12, 2011, 05:58:18 PM
No reply yet to my Monday night pre-sales request form via their website.  (Today is Saturday.  Yes, I did receive the automated email response immediately.)  I tried calling their USA telephone number, which put me in an infinite loop... press 1 for sales ... [hold for a couple of minutes] ... press 1 for sales, etc., etc.

I raised a tech support ticket over a week ago asking them a pre-sales question but I haven't had a reply yet either, so I'm in the same boat too.

You guys preordering the X1000? You beat me to the 'opening of the ticket' requester, but it probably wouldn't hurt if you told 'em you've got $3k burning a hole in your pocket for an X1000...

On a serious note, they're probably away on a holiday!

Hi you should email them, raise a ticket and consider phoning them.
I do not advocate voicing concerns about a company in a public forum until all these routes are exhausted.

Ordinarily, I would jump to the defence of AmigaKit as my purchases have always gone smoothly.

BUT

I attended the Amiga North Thames show in December 2009. I left my Scandoubler with Matthew as it had a fault.
Now in March 2011, after numerous phone calls throughout 2010 and emails in 2011 I am STILL awaiting a diagnosis...

I know that my Scandoubler is small beer to Amigakit, but these "small" things are significant to me and my future buying habits.

The English have never treated the Irish fairly, have they? (just kidding, now I'll go hide from any flame throwing)

Had a few issues with them that finally caused me to give up, as well.  When the SAM 440ep's came out, the i/o backplates were not yet done.  When they were released, vendors were sent them from ACube for the purchasers of said SAM mobo's.  I tried 4-5 times via AmigaKit's support system to obtain said item I bought and paid for and never managed to get a reply once, sadly.  I'm looking at getting an accel and flickerfixer for my 1200, as well as considering a SAM 460, and I'll likely deal with someone else due to these experiences.

Shame, had super luck with them on the SAM sale initially.

Hey guys just wanted to tell you i placed my first order with amigakit and my order progress remained unchanged for a week. I wondered why it took so long (didnt see their 5-7 days handling) and opened a support ticket. It was answered nicely in 1 day.

Thank you for your feedback.  Here is some clarification:

All Technical / Support / Service e-mails should be sent to our Support Ticket System: http://www.amigakit.com/support  (which will be answered within 2 business days of us reading the ticket)

All Sales emails should be sent through our webform here: http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/contact_us.php#salesform

It is important to send emails to the correct place, so the correct person can receive them.

@duce
Backplates for SAM should be ordered through our webstore, they cannot be requested through the Support Ticket system.  We published news on this at the time.

Here is the link for the backplate: http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=957

You need to provide your original invoice number as proof of purchase in order comments.

Sometimes, we have staff off from work and during these periods of time when we are very busy, replies can be delayed as we prioritise dispatching orders to customers.

Yes!

You know how Canadians will rip your face off if you refer to them as American? And how New Zealanders will have your balls if you ask them if they're from Australia?

Welsh people will go nuclear if you refer to them as being from England.  Very dangerous.  ;-)

LOL, and us Irish get upset when we're mistaken for English too! And Welsh or Scottish, but they're not quite so bad ;) I was mistaken for American once though which is pretty surprising given my Dublin accent! But anyway...

My wife's Grandad is a born and bred Cockney, yet when he live in Canada for a couple of years in the 60's people kept asking him if he was Australian!

And the other way around too ;)

"Where are you from?"

"Ireland"

"Ooh, are you from Belfast then?"

"Err, nope."

I just checked your homepage, AmiTunes (http://www.robthenerd.com/show.php?sect=projects&sub=amitunes&page=about) looks superb! Definitely on my software to try list.

Thank you :) The full MUI version still isn't finished yet, but the old GadTools one works fine and is downloadable. I'd be happy to hear what you think of it, and let me know if you have any problems with it...

Incidentally, the MP3 jukebox it was originally written for is now nearly finished, here's a link to a video I made of it last night:

Nothing too fancy, but it shows what can be done with AmiTunes and some soldering :)

UPDATE: I got a reply from amigakit sales today -- 8.5 days after I filled out their webform, but they're obviously very busy.

I have spent a considerable amount of money with Amigakit over the years and have found them to be friendly, accommodating and reliable. Sometimes they might be at an Amiga event or something, but as this is a hobbyist market, its not like trade IT suppliers where you MUST have your product the next day - although for a good many orders from AmigaKit, they have supplied to me next day.

Is that an insult or a compliment to a Californian? ;)
