Title: Quake 1 Registration number
Post by: gonzoninja on December 17, 2003, 12:08:06 PM
Okay so I bought ClickBOOM's Quake 1 off Ebay. But the guy I bought it off didn't include the registration card.

I have emailed him about it, but just in case he doesn't have it, I'm trying to decide what to do. Should I email ClickBOOM (in which case what is the email for their support peeps) or what?

u must contact the guy u bought it from, oh and if there is any problems let us know as there is alot of PIRATE shops on amiga (atleast 3 in the UK atm) whom sell cdr versions of games...

anyway a small tip is, forematt sells quake 1 for 5-9 quid ...

but which hardware do u have? , you can use the clickboom version for GL QUAKE and BlitzQuake and so on if u like as you only need the ID1 dir.. , ie u wont need to type the serial code i think, been too long ago so i am not 100% sure...

worth a try anyway...

You need to type the registration number during installation so i wouldn't think it will install (cunning!). You can buy Quake from Formatt for £10 which is a good buy. The only suggestion i can think of is look on the CD and unzip the stuff manually (lha). I ould give you my registration number, but i am not sure if this would work and i will need proof that you actually own it.

Cheers,

Yes, correct, you only need the ID1 dir.
Use one of the freely available Quake engines e.g. from Aminet.

cu_amiga:ah i belived it was 5-9 quid (he sell em on ebay also) , ohwell 10 is ok i guess...

cu_amiga:btw weirdscience supposedly has quake2 again now and forematt also , if the banners are correct on their sites..

@lempkee,

Thanks for that. Alas, i will only buy Quake 2 and Heretic 2 when i get the best PPC for my Amiga, then it will do it justice. I have got Payback though, excellent game.

cu_amiga:ok well that Bvision doesnt do much justice just as thats said, the mediator or grexx with a voodoo will be ALOT faster :D

anyway yes payback is cool but shame it doesnt have TCP IP support ...

and only 8 missions (4 levels) ...completed it last new years eve and btw the game style is not my cup of tea but the PRISON BREAK mission was AWESOME!!!

cheers

@lempkee,

The Blizzardvision isn't THAT bad is it? A Voodoo ain't THAT much faster is it?!

cu_amiga:true...not that bad...but then again AGA is Wonderfull so..., from AGA to RTG was Awesome, From Bvision to Mediator was AMAZING!..

if u catch my drift :D

anyway u wont get 50 fps on the mediator when u get 2 fps on your bvision, thats not what i am saying...

but its a huge difference, i get 42fps in Blitzquake (voodoo ONLY) and WosGl quake gives 12-15 fps in same res on bvision according to my friends on the chans i use..
(800x600x16) anyway blitzquake is silky smooth, quake 2 gives me 25 fps on my setup in 640x480x16 (probably same in 800x600 but i have too little gfx mem) anyway quake2 seems faster than quake 1 when u play ....weird but expected :)

@lempkee,

Yeah but the Blizzardvision is so cheap and more reliable.

cheap and more reliable???

bvision was priced more than the mediator when it was new, and if u want to buy it now u still would have to pay 3x the time of an voodoo card..

sorry i dont see where the unrialibility (LOL weird word) is with the mediator, i have used the mediator for 2 years now and NEVER ever seen it go haywire , if you are thinking about the dodgy grexx well sure then i can agree but then again same people who made the ppc and bvision made the grexx...

ohwell its yer choice but i am just pointing out the facts /and or what to expect ..

The Warp3D Driver for Voodoo 3 coincidentally runs on the Voodoo 5 too, but that does not make it a Voodoo 5 Driver. Some sort of backward compatibility mode of the Voodoo 5. I heard somewhere it would run slower than a real Voodoo 3, do not know if it is true, though. In no way does it use all features of the Voodoo 5.
