Was watching this Amiga 1200 on ebay. Went for a decent amount of cash. Do you think it was worth the money?

I was watching and bidding on that one myself but dropped out at £150, I only wanted it for the SubWay & Blizzard board. I honestly don't think it was worth what it sold for though... :)

In the states I think that might be a little high. It all depends on how you look at it. It might be worth it when you consider that it was all set up. I know that it would take me forever to get that setup working if I tried to do it.

Edit - Its been relisted:

Spray painting a computer case - yuck. So basically, you'll never want to touch it as the heat, salt and sweat from your hands will end up ruining it.
Anyone use vinyl die instead?
-
Wow... a lot of the posts from here have disappeared... must be the changeover taking effect... :(
-
Something really smells bad here. Very odd auction - to say the least.
@2600
I somewhat agree with you, but there's paint, and then there's paint. Many lacquers will actually join with the plastic IF applied correctly. There are loads of other options too.
No one will get a good job by just using a spray can from the local hardware store....

Awe... where did all the farty troll posts go, they were quite good some of em... :(
Ruddy changeover... :(

On plastic it works fantastic. It leaves the original texture of the plastic perfectly intact, no runs to worry about.
I have a 2000 I recently acquired that I wanted to try this on. The case is fairly beat up, so my thought was to dye the faceplate black, and have the metal parts of the case powder coated. I think the hardest part will be finding a CDTV keyboard to match.

Dont think thats a bad price considering all the stuff that comes with it. Its pretty packed

If you can't discuss prices, why start it at all ?

Really ? if I pickup a fairly good A1200 and order all parts including an ACA 1230/56 (ok, can't be done anymore, but I have 2 of them), paint it and replace the keys, I'll come out lower than buy it now price.

@ Runequester
I suppose if you break it down and go by the sort of prices you pay on eBay for the various parts it would work out at this price going by recent average prices being paid on ebay... :)
4xEIDE Buffered Interface £ 26
40GB HD £ 25
DVD R/W Slim £ 15
SubWay USB Device £ 48
PCMCIA Card £ 5
Blizzard030 32MB £175
250 Watt PSU £ 15
A1200 £ 55
Total £364
As the only possible things I would keep from it are the Subway and the 4xEIDE then to me personally it wouldn't be worth the kind of money it went for at first but to someone looking to buy a complete set up then it's a fair price I reckon... :)

I don't think you are going to get that amount for the Blizzard since the ACA's are out.

Ahh... I see... :)

Here's some recent prices for various Blizzard30 boards that have sold on eBay from the past couple of weeks... :)
Blizzard030 32MB Sold For £175.50 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120681921929&ssPageName=STRK:MEDWX:IT#ht_500wt_1156)
Blizzard030 64MB Sold for £177.17 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110646360952&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_500wt_1156)
There were a few others and all reached the £170 mark and one with only 4MB of ram went for over £190. Most buyers on ebay don't even know about the new cards as most don't visit the forums and have no idea they are/were available... :)

Mk III sells for quite a bit less than Mk IV

Yup... that was one of the reasons why I dropped out of the bidding, when I realised it was only a MK III board... :)
