Something that was common on the Amiga MANY years ago is now a "feature" in OS X Lion. Fullscreen apps. http://www.apple.com/macosx/lion/
I mean, it's 2011, and Apple is still playing catch up. I do like Apple, I currently use a Macbook Pro, but c'mon. Also, OS X is getting more bloated with each new release.

Say wha?!
There is no technical reason why OS X couldn't have full screen apps before it was a GUI design decision. Now they are adding full-screen mode for all the recent Windows switchers who are scratching their heads saying "how do i make this thing go full screen, duh!?" I for one don't like the idea of this change, and think it's developing for the lowest common denominator. But that's me, we'll see...

Good point.

That is a weird horn to toot! MacOS has had full screen "apps" for years. Bryce3D being a prominent example, also many games have had this. Pixelmator is a good current example.

I'll stick with Snow Leopard and Ubuntu on my Macbook Pro until it dies, then I'll go back to Linux only again.

On stage I would used Ableton Live in full Screen mode... This is nothing new for OSX, what it appears to be is part of the new Apple philosophy of persistence, no need to save any more :)

As much as I love Apple I found the "full screen apps" statement confusing. There were full screen apps going back to the classic days. The whole "Back to the Mac" show seemed forced.

Well, I think I read somewhere that in the new OS, any application can be made fullscreen, and you'll be able to switch between fullscreen apps easily, similar to the Amiga screen dragging concept of years gone by.
