For years been wondering if there was software that could rip tracks into their individual instruments. Now there is. Not really had chance to play with it.
Recommended specs are high quad core 4 gigs of ram. Running it on single core 4 gig laptop so taking an hour to rip one track apart.
Like the idea of it. If it is as good as it claims will be good for mixes/mash-ups. Don' t know if bloodline and a few others would be interested in it?
Here link anyway

I wonder how well it works? Let us know. I'd like to try it on my own recordings and see how well it can actually break it up.
-
will do but as I said running it on 1.8ghz sempron dell whilst running poker and few other things. Might take awhile
I will be interested if I can easily remove vocal tracks and put in others. Might try running it om my slightly more powerfil dual core amd 4200+

Hey, yup you grabbed my interest :)
I need to test it, but my gut feeling is it pulls out frequency bands and cancels out the stereo image, that is how I would isolate an audio part.
cheers for the link! x

For info, vocal tracks are 9 times out of 10 mixed dead centre, to remove them from a mix, simply invert the left channel and then subtract it from the right. you will get some stereo effects (an expensive reverb for exmple) leaking through but not much.

I think it goes a bit further than that, looking at the embedded video. It seems to recognise that various frequencies are harmonics of other fundamental notes and keeps them together.

And I now have to try and resurrect a windows installation to try it

Or you could sit there with the sense of entitlement typical of mac users and simply wait for v2 which will doubtless be available for OSX too, shortly before becoming OSX only...

@ Karlos
Love it. He will probably wait for the iPad version :)
-
Finished ripping the track, does seem to rip it down into decent parts, but can remove or quieten tracks.
-
Not sure how great this software, seems pretty cool to play with, but most of cool stuff disabled on free version

Yeah, my bootcamp partition malwared up (I didn't take any precautions with it), and I don't need Windows software anymore so I've not looked after it :-/
@JJ
No iPad yet... I'm not convinced I would really need it... a MacBook Air on the other hand, I rather like :)
-
I do like the look of the Airs, but I would run Windows on it :)
-
I thought you were talking about something like these guys do. http://www.zenph.com/
Their software analyzes a performance to the note level so it can be recreated with a modern instrument.... say take an old 78 rpm vinyl and redo it on a modern player piano...
-
btw people i would highly recomend an album called untrue by burial . in my top ten. amazing music and technially impressive. not too clean beats put down by hand llot of pitch and duration changbes of vocals. listen its amesome

And I now have to try and resurrect a windows installation to try it
Please call this number in India, hello reactivation on windows what?
Oh that will be $199.99 for you have already activated more than the licensed 5 times, you will have to buy a new EULA.
Have you upgraded to Windows 7?
I am sorry sir but we just can't activate that EULA that you have.
Sir are you still there:
