Dear Friends:
A long time ago, when I went to college, a professor told me:
"do what you love and the money will come".
I found this to be true...that is why I wanted to pass this
on to you.
If you love amiga...you can make money with it.
Love !!!

hahah made me chuckle!

Well there is no money to be made with amiga. Well assuming you don't want to live under a bridge or something (I don't). :)

..maybe not on it's own :) I still use ppaint, brilliance and DPaint regularly at the various games companies iv'e worked for-more so on handheld paletted stuff.

You CAN make money with the Amiga these days... :)
How... if you flog them on eBay, I've been battling it out with a "power seller" on eBay for the past three weeks now buying as many Amigas as I could always bidding against this guy who buys just about everything Amiga he can on eBay and then relists them at twice the price and he make his living from this... :)
How do I know... he emailed me on ebay telling me that this was his livelihood and he has to charge the ridiculous prices and postage that he does to make a living... :)
He's easy to spot has well over 17,500 stars and bids on everything Amiga on ebay, which is a shame for folk who are only looking for an Amiga for themselves as they end up being outbid and then having to buy them from him at his ridiculous prices and his overcharging on P&P... :(
It's cost me just over a grand over the past three weeks outbidding him on ebay but when I get all the stuff delivered and tested I'm gonna put most of them back on ebay to sell at a loss to folk who genuinely want them and make sure I don't sell them to him... :)
Some folk may call this crazy but I hate to see someone doing this and making genuine Amiga users pay through the nose cos this guy is a so greedy... :)
-
You're a modern-day Robin Hood, Franko! That's a really nice thing you're doing, I'd love to do the same if I could afford it.
-
There's a lot of people on ebay doing this now. There are even a few that split down into individual components even selling the empty box and poly's seperate. And have you seen the amount of pre configured CF's on there these days?
@Franko, you really are mad bless you - but I like your style.
Airey36 does have his uses like when you need a keyboard clip or a floppy drive bracket but it is a pain when he outbids you .
You should sell them on through trading forums though and save the fees, plus you know they arev going right back into the community :)
All the best.
Steve.

@ Cammy
Thanks Cammy, I'd rather be a Robin Hood than a Robbin B&$!&£D anyday... ;)
@ Fitsteve
Didn't want to name the guy as he does make his living from it and I reckon anyone who looks for Amiga stuff on eBay knows about him, but to be honest his tactics of trying to outbid everyone and then the ridiculous prices he charges and his rip-off P&P costs really pisses me off...
I've sussed out how much he's willing to pay for certain things to keep his profit margin high and so will continue to outbid him until he eases of a bit and give genuine Amiga users a chance... :)

This guy is making money off of Amiga...

And good luck to him I say... :)
With these things the way I see it is if folk are willing to pay a few quid to these guys for something like that then let them take their chances... :)
But to be honest why bother when once again they can found for free just by looking on the net and if you really want the original and it's box then you can usually find someone selling an old copy on ebay... :)
Again it all comes down to the companies & copyright owners not giving a flying feck about the Amiga anymore. They could if they wanted to re-release them but they wont as the profit margin wouldn't be big enough... :(
No point in the copyright mafia screaming blue murder over it if the companies & copyright holders don't care... :)
You could of course look for a second hand one on the like's of eBay if you really want the boxed original but then how many folk out there are actually selling them... :)
If it's Amiga software and it's not available to purchase easily and legally from anywhere then it it's high time we cut the BS and put everything online for free and let the few remaining Amiga users left in this world get some use out of it... :)
-
Always knew it Franko. You are a gentleman beyond reproach.
I raise me Bruichladdich to yer. Cheers.

You can make money with Amiga, if you want. The guy who uses an Amiga in a bowling hall surely is making profit. Article writers does not need much more than a text editor, so Amiga will be very good for this task as well. Pixel artists have many great Amiga tools at hand.
If someone says that you can't make money with the Amiga, then he is either disabled or lacks imagination.
I make money with my Amiga, but I am not telling how, because other Amigans may try to take my profit.

You say "Power Seller", I say "****".
-
Yes and you say it at every opportunity. Wish you wouldn't.
-
I am of two minds (I AM a Gemini after all) about this stuff.
I have been against Piracy for as long as I can remember, and still am. Things like this though are ussually abandonware and the price they start the bidding at is more for the price of materials and the time taken the collect and organize the material.
I myself am working on a cluster of 8-10 Xboxs completly modded and hacked to play my fav. game and feel no problem with it since I own everything I'm modding.
But I would never knowingly use a pirated game that is even somewhat available. Heck I only play SNES ROMS for games I physically own!!!
-
You say "Power Seller", I say "kitty".
Amen. These price-gouging vultures sticking it to people who actually enjoy vintage computers make me sick. Franko, you're as crazy as ever, but bless you for it.

if you want to make money WITH an Amiga....you can make films if you have a Toaster.
millions of people did that for years. but more importantly, people LEARNED how to make films by practicing with relatively inexpensive equipment.
It's what I did (although I didn't have a toaster) and why I could have a career in films, even when I stopped using my original Amiga. That knowledge is in my head.
It's what Amiga did to people's minds that counts.

ebay to sell at a loss to folk who genuinely want them and make sure I don't sell them to him... :)
I'll have the A4000 030 for 2p please. I'm not being greedy and offering over 1p and not requesting a 040 or better.
On a serious note I want free P&P for 2p
On a more serious note how can you refuse to sell to certain ebayers - isn't that against ebay's rules?

Sorry didn't buy any A4000s only A1200s and they'll cost a wee bit more than 2p... :)
Sod the rules... rules are made to be broken... it's kind of a pastime for me... :)
Wrote about this elsewhere here before but back when the A500s first came out in 1988 I started my own DTP Design & Printing business using two A500s and old Star 9 pin dot matrix printers... :)
Ran it for nearly two years before I got bored and made enough money to put aside to help with my retirement at age 37 back around 2001 when I had to give up work due to ill health.. :)
Don't think I'd be able to compete these days though, as you can't get hold of the printer ribbons anymore...:D
-
Haven't sold anything, I just collect :roflmao:
You wanna make money within the Amiga world ?
Design a processor card that has everything onboard, including graphics, ide/sata, lan, usb for every Amiga model.
-
Bloody plastic is hard to print on though...
-
There are still ways to make $$$ with the Amiga. There is a sports car garage (mostly Porche ) locally that uses two A3000 in their shop for everyday shop tedium. Year ago they used to sell A4000, A4000T computers too.
I add to my income a bit using an Amiga for what boils down to DTP work - output to a good color laser printer.
-
And whats wrong by living under a bridge..:)

And whats wrong by living under a bridge..:)
Folk who live under bridges are a ruddy nuisance... :madashell:
They get in the way when you stagger home from the pub and need a pee and then complain cos you made their cardboard boxes all soggy... :)
-
You just need a good printer!
I usually blow a lot of money with the Amiga, I didn't know it could put in reverse.

most people pay a lot of money to have their amiga blow them :roflmao:

I have to agree, you can make money with your Amiga. At the very least you should be able to make a bit by selling the stuff on ebay, specially PPC stuff usually holds it value. But there are other ways, you can still use your Amiga to be creative you know, I still use my Amiga to do the odd graphic or gif because its what I know and I find it easier to work with sometime than these modern programs. But nothing stopping you making the next big game or music track or something else on the amiga. Plus if your a good enough programmer their are loads of bounty out their to collect on, and even on the net, Google emailed me a while back asking if I would like to enable Advert sharing on my You Tube vids, meaning every time an advert is viewed before my amiga vids I would get 0.00.1 of a penny, and maybe One full penny if the user actually clicked on them, put simple maybe in a 100 years time I might of eared one shiny Pound from google for my vids, needless to say I've declined for now. But their is money out their to be made.

Lol @ AmigaNG

Had to laugh when I got the same message on YouTube to "enable revenue sharing" for this one... :lol

I must be the only person in the world who could make money off Doomy... :roflmao:
-
What 'ave you done to poor ole Doomy...?
-
Ohh my, I never get enough of doomy, he always makes me laugh.
But also, he makes me a bit embarrased on behalf of all amigans..

I just ordered a system from Airey. I dunno why all those a1200's on british ebay are for UK Bid / Pickup only. The pricing + shipping is a steal compared to what is offered on US ebay. It's a junkyard here, yellow a500/1000s for $200 and asking $60 for shipping.
That's around 180 GBP, which is more than I paid Airey for. This "Minnesota Liquidation" thing going around forums he just has a bunch of c64s and a500's as well, and AmigaKit doesn't seem to respond to sales. Airey seems to be the only one willing to export.
