Title: Best WAV Editng Software GUI Based
Post by: XDelusion on February 14, 2011, 12:14:24 AM
I'm looking for the best, most user friendly, feature rich software for MorphOS/Amiga that I can use to cut, past, and edit bits and pieces from WAV samples as well as to convert audio files from one format to the other.

Ideally I want something with a GUI as I can't see this sort of work being very much fun through command line, except in regards to format conversion, which I believe everyone uses SOX for anyhow right?

SoundProbe was always my favorite. It was by far the best Amiga Sound editor I ever used. It's not the most user friendly as it has tons of menu's and options. I can't seem to get my hands on version 2. You can't buy it anymore.

Samplitude was also pretty good and freely downloadable.  It's not AHI compatible, but if you have a Toccata or a card that can emulate one then it will play in 16-bit audio.

But the absolute best audio app for the Amiga was SoundFX.  It does run in AHI as well.  It's not the simplest to use but it's very advanced.

For converting and editing smaller samples, like for games or application alert type sounds, I use SoundBox. I guess if you have enough RAM you can use it for larger samples too. In any case I've used it a lot and it does the job well for me.

If you can get copies of the commercial software mentioned previously they'd probably be much better suited though.

I often used the tracker OctaMED-SoundStudio and tied it in with other programs so that I after converting them in OSS could manipulate and edit in other apps like StereoMaster and 3D-Sound... Way back this was...
