Title: CommodoreUSA CTO ramblings - Funny.
Post by: haywirepc on February 07, 2011, 11:47:51 PM
Taken from commodore-amiga.org's website. This is a reply about " Workbench OS" from the chief technical officer. (The only known customer of CUSA in existance He got the job shortly after admitting to being robbed for a cybernet zpc with a commodore scratch and sniff sticker slapped on)

"We have taken nothing away from the existing Amiga community. Indeed, we have given the Amiga brand new hope of a resurgence where there was none. No really. NONE!!! It was dead! You all had ten or more years to do it your way and nothing of any major significance happened as far as the world is concerned.

Like it or not, we are rebooting the Amiga, Workbench and all. Think of it like the new James Bond, Batman or even Battlestar Galactica remakes. It is not the same..ON PURPOSE! It is better. Get over it."

And these guys wonder why the commodore and amiga community isn't jumping up and down waiting to buy their sticker slapped generic pcs.

Amiga forever = Nothing?
Amithlon = Nothing?
AROS = Nothing?
AOS 4.X = Nothing?
MORPHOS = Nothing?
MINIMIG = Nothing?
Altheos = Nothing?
syllable = Nothing?
Netami = Nothing?
minimigaga = Nothing?

Leo, you are my favorite chief technical anything. I can't wait to see your amiga wallpapers on your ununtu repsin, but are you sure you can handle that? Remember 100% amiga compattible? So is my windows pc with winuae I suppose.

I hope you guys do have 30 million for advertising as you claim. Your going to need it to sell your crap.

Amazing.

Steven

Ooh, here's another good line from commodoreusa.net:
Quote
Think different, be different. Don't follow the                                                                                                                       herd. Exclaim, I'm not a PC.  I'm not a Mac. I'm a                                                                                                                       Commodore! I'm an AMIGA!
"I'm not a PC! I'm simply a PC motherboard in a PC case! That's totally different!"

Geez. I keep not wanting to jump to conclusions about Barry Altman, but if he didn't write this stuff, he ought to fire whoever did...

FYI: I am still offering to sell my generic PC to anyone interested in a next-gen amiga for 500 dollars.

It runs ubuntu, has amiwm and worker installed, along with e-uae so based on this standard, its totally an amiga.

The case doesn't say amiga specifically, but if you pay 2 dollars extra, I'll buy a sharpie and draw an amiga logo of YOUR CHOOSING on the case.

On top of this, its available NOW, officially supported by Commodore Amiga Iran.

All sales will go towards buying myself more classic amiga hardware, so your money are going DIRECTLY to amiga projects

Why settle for less, when you can have your very own PAMIGAC RIGHT NOW ?

I'll say one thing about CUSA they could write some good scripts that would make a good Monty Pythons film... :lol:

Do they meet up at Barry's house, do some crystal meth and then update their website?
Title: Re: CommodoreUSA CTO ramblings - Funny.

So they actually did produce a product. I was unaware of this!

And what's the deal, it doesn't support AROS or something? Why Ubuntu?!

If it did actually have a scratch and sniff sticker, I might be interested, so long as it didn't smell like Lady Gaga's thong.

Oh, and did C-USA actually post something to the effect of "Think Outside the Box" on their page?! I can't tell you how many times have I heard that phrase used through out my life, and long before Apple used the phrase to sell their Intel PC Macs at that.

I guess I really have nothing witty to add to this post, but damn...

...I really can't believe they actually shipped hardware, and with Ubuntu and not AROS of all things. BOLD!

Oh wait, I see the info at the bottom of the video now...

...the hardware has been shipped to one unfortunate soul.

Yes so far only one person in the world ever bought a computer from them.
(That has admitted to it)

Since he was their only sale, they gave him the job of CFO. Now remember, thats after a 30 million dollar advertising budget and all, so the job dosn't pay. a year of hype, announcemnts, plans, cancelled plans, websites stolen from apple's word for word...
Hype, more announcements, yes they have sold one computer that we know of.

Just a side note, I beat commodoreUSA's worldwide sales myself on ebay last week. And hey, I don't have all that loot. hahaha

Oh, and no crystal meth for them. Thats reserved for people taking and working on the software bounties. Well that,pizza and asian hookers.

Like I said before, whatever it takes to keep them happy and coding.
