Title: Pocket-sized Amiga?
Post by: Rabbi on February 03, 2011, 12:46:36 AM
I saw this ad posted on the Phoenix Craigslist:

http://phoenix.craigslist.org/nph/sys/2192380390.html

& was wondering if he means if UAE was to be loaded on it, that it could function as a pocket-sized Amiga?

Yes.  It would be UAE on Linux.

It's got an ARM CPU and runs Linux + emulators.

That thing looks like a DS hinge on a cardboard box! Yuck! Better to just port UAE to iOS and run it on a 1GHz ARM on the iPod/ iPhone/ iPad for under $200! :)

It's actually a homebrew games device which took several years to do. Much like the minimig. Is it hard to do a search on OpenPandora and find out about it before insulting it?

I still hope to get my hands on a Pandora some day, then I hope to see AROS ported to it later down the road. :)

Awesome system from what I've heard!

UAE4all on the GP2X makes it quite a tidy handheld amiga games machine.  Not perfect with on-screen keyboard but good for a quick bash of Superfrog.

Pandora needs time to mature.

Because playing games meant for mouse/joystick on a small touch screen is so much fun.
The Pandora has a Dpad, dual analog sticks, a full keyboard, and USB host for using a mouse. It's no contest.

Touch screen + Amiga gaming = fat fingers over controlling characters lol

Is this device any better than a Sony PSP with UAE?

Alternatively one could get one of these (http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-d1-49-en-70-3w5n.html), which by all accounts has a very tasty port of UAE on it. Not to mention a fairly active community attached.

Doubt it, PSP UAE is pretty much full speed now isn't it?
I know pandora has PUAE (inc AGA) but I dunno how fast it is. If they ever get it full speed so I can run AGA games and programs, I might be tempted.

couple of things in it's favour though, is TV out and usb host for gamepads/mice, so you could use it like a wedge Amiga.

Or just buy a Galaxy S (the Iphone 3GS clone from Samsung that use the Droid OS )  and use UAE4droid :-)
It works & it exists (not a vaporware)

hmm, hate touch screens for button gaming. Love touch screens for games meant for them :)
