DRAM ZIP Adapter Modules convert a DRAM packaged in a surface mount SOJ or TSOP package into a vertically mounted ZIP configuration. These DRAM ZIP Adapters Modules were developed for users with motherboard designs that require IC?s, which are now obsoleted by major manufacturers.
could these be used on an amiga 3000 the link is here

Hi AmigaMad :-)
Just requested some more informations on it :-)
BTW, IF it is not too thick, large and tall ;-) AND available in 1M*4 form, so perhaps ;-)
A3000s and Ts takes 256K*4 or 1M*4 zip chips either Page Mode or Static Column mode (preferred) in 80ns or better speeds.
However, it are very close together on the motherboards, so the size factor will mather :-)

Well, if they doesnt fit there is always the possibility to use a ZIP-to-SIMM converter which should be a cheap solution.

This is the link to the dimensions of these adaptors. The thickness is indicated to be 1/10th of an inch.

I'll try to remember this if my Retina craps out... now I wonder if it has 2 or 4 megs RAM... mmm

Man, it sure would be nice if these would work in A3000. Does anyone know?

Quite true. Apart from Amiga designs, does anyone have any tips on where to find ZIPs for scrounging?
Here are my two finds:
* Multi-serial boards for HP Laserjet printers (MIO bus)
* Certain Thomas-Konrad network/telephony equipment

I think that's the size without an actual chip on it, though. From the description, it calls this an adaptor, and I don't think it's sold with DRAM attached.
It would certainly be a tight fit in an A3000. If you only needed 8 megs, though, you could probably use banks 1 and 3. That would leave quite a bit of space.

Would be great to upgrade my a3000 it only has 6 meg of memory.
