Title: FS: 2.5" hard drives for A1200
Post by: motrucker on February 01, 2011, 02:06:39 PM
I have two Toshiba 30Gb drives, One Toshiba 80Gb, and one Hitachi 80Gb drives. All are recognized by HDToolbox in a friends A1200. All these drives were pulled from working windows type laptop machines.
Make offer(s)

One other weird item = a Cardinal 28.8 modem that works. Excellent condition, not yellowed! This one is NOT C= compatible - it's standard RS-232. Has PSU but no original box.

Just out of curiosity, what would make that not C= compatible?

Or do you mean the C= 8-bits? They can take an RS232 device with a simple adapter.

They (and others) made modems that would plug directly into the C-64s and C-128s user port without the need of an RS-232 interface. This modem needs an RS-232 interface.
In other words - rather than the cable ending in a C= user port plug, it has a standard 25 pin plug.
Cardinal was big time into Commodore software and hardware way back when - They made the best disk drive alignment software there was for just one example...

I have one last 2.5" hard drive that will work in an A1200. This one is on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/2-5-30Gb-Toshiba-hard-drive-A1200-/170600581711?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27b8964a4f

If you are not in the U.S., contact me to make arrangements for shipping - eBay just doesn't offer all choices, but Paypal usually does.

Hi motrucker... :)

Just received the HDs, only 8 days delivery that's a record for me getting something from the USA... :)

They look fine, just need to try them out and do all the formatting/partitioning malarky now... :)

Cheers Mate... :)

Franko

(PS: they got delivered to my neighbours house , you had the address written correctly but our postman's usually half pissed in the mornings and tends to stick things through the wrong letterboxes...)

Glad they got to you OK. At our local Post Office the lady who took your package made a comment that Scotland was better (quicker) than England for delivery speed.
I might get another batch of pc and Amiga stuff this weekend. If there's anything interesting, I'll let you know.

Hi,

@Franko,

[(PS: they got delivered to my neighbours house , you had the address written correctly but our postman's usually half pissed in the mornings and tends to stick things through the wrong letterboxes... ) ]

If you would quit chasing him and trying to bite his leg, he might put your mail in the right box.
