I am, frankly, speechless.
It's a 4000Dcr with a 040/25 board, full RAM, no battery damage.
It also came with a NIB mouse and a Video Toaster keyboard (all colorful and stuff).

Enjoy. I have had my 4000D for about eight years and I love it. She's been waiting patiently for a Deneb, and I just might be able to get one for Valentine's Day :)

That's one good thing about the 4000cr's, they don't have have the leaky barrel batteries :-).

I got one two days ago! Woooo!

aaaaaaawesome.

I'll get to work, I've ust been caressing...er...working manly with her keyboard.

Congratulations!
I remember when I first got home with my first 4000 after a drive to Canada to pick it up. I was ecstatic when I first got it home and played with it like crazy for the first week.
Then I started a restoration process even though it was in good shape with no leaking battery. I replaced all of the caps, did a little retro-brite on the case front, etc., basically making it like new and that was over a year ago and I am still not done.:-(
So much for using my 4000.;)
-
Congrats !! I had one of these and they are really nice machines.
-
It is a nice machine. But...... you'll want to change the cpu card. And AGA lack of speed will annoy you and you'll see those empty Zorro slots that just HAVE to have a graphics card. But then you'll miss AGA games, and you hear about these things called "Indivision". And wouldn't it be great to have a burner...oh and a fast hard drive, but that needs a faster interface, like say a fastATA 4000....but yep its a nice machine...
-
Congrats!!!
I just got one around Christmas. It's in outstanding condition, no battery or capacitor leakage whatsoever - though I already replaced the caps as a precautionary measure.*
Best part, it was a gift from a very good friend - thanks Dan!
So far, I've added an MKII Cyberstorm, DENEB (with a Melody 1200 soundcard on the clockport), and a Picasso IV. I also decided to finally unwrap the NOS A4000 keyboard I'd been hoarding the last 10 years, along with a new IIyama Diamondtron. All very exciting. :P
* Incidentally, the original SMD capacitors were Panasonics, which might explain why they hadn't leaked.

@TheBilgeRat: felicitations-congratulations. Now perhaps your A4000 will ask you to install a CSPPC

If 16MB of RAM is enough (and it is for most things,) there's no reason to change the CPU card. Paying a bunch of money for a faster but still slow processor doesn't make much sense unless something you're doing requires that type of speed. Graphics card is definitely a nice upgrade (more bang for the buck than a CPU card upgrade, I'd say,) but why would that make anyone miss AGA games? AGA still works with an RTG card installed, especially easy if your RTG board has a passthrough otherwise a simple switchbox or second monitor is all you need. I've never had the desire for a burner in an Amiga, why mess with that when it's generally the target machine these days? Then there are the ever present complaints about slow IDE on the 1200/4000. Fast enough, I say!

Oh yeah put a downer on a guy who's obviously quite happy with his purchase...
Ok he MAY want to upgrade the CPU but what the hells wrong with AGA, does a a damn fine job in my opinion. He obviously bought the machine in the knowledge for what it is and what it can do, enjoy your new A4000 TheBilgeRat and don't sell it, I still wish I never sold mine all those years ago... :)

Forget this....just enjoy your new (and very capable as-is) A4000. Your 040 A4000 can do 95% of anything that was ever required by an Amiga. Get the FULL use out of AGA and your 040 before you spend money on expensive and "previously owned" flakey expansions. When you're done that (several years of fun use) Jens may have come up with some new, reliable and affordable all-in-one A4000 expansion hardware if you still feel the need to upgrade.
I do get what stefcep2 is hinting at though....the desire to "upgrade" can be a vicious and expensive circle. Try to stay out of it and just enjoy what you have.

I don't know about that... As a long time A4000 vet who used a 3640 for over a year before upgrading... I can say authoratatively the stock 3640 is crap. I remember the MASSIVE difference that CyberStorm MKII made. It was almost as big a jump in the day-to-day usability of the machine as the CyberGraphX 3D I added after that. (Not to mention the 060 runs much cooler... Somthing not to be overlooked on old hardware!)
I got rid of my big box Amigas a while ago, but if I ever got another one, upgrading the CPU card would be manditory.

I hear ya - but compared to my A1200 I had originally, and the 2000 with 1M chip and 2M fast and a 68000? I don't have to wait for a file drawer to open, I have super hi res, midgame Civ doesn't take seconds to refresh, and Syndicate goes so fast its like playng a 2D shooter! First upgrade will probably be a Deneb or 3.1 roms (it has 3.0) and if I can find a copy of AmigaWriter2 or any other word processor that will open DOC. I used to use final writer, but I don't remember if it opened up doc files or not.
I mean, I wouldn't mind if a CSPPC fell off a CSPPC truck into my lap... :D
And at any time I get into lightwave or alladin, then I might toy around with speed upgrade or maybe a zoram. My first goal tho I think is getting connectivity so I don't have to shuttle Aminet scores back and forth on a cdrom.
-
I've also had CSMKII's (and CSPPCs) and sure, they were nice. They don't make the machine all that much more capable than the 3640, though, unless you're running '060 demos and games. I'm not a day to day user by any means, so I'm more than happy to go with the 3640 ($100 card) and sacrifice the snappiness the $400+ cards afforded.

Yeah, we may be coming at this one from different angles. I'm speaking from my memory of back when Amiga WAS my primary system. (Talking back in 1992-1995). I had an A1200 with GVP 030, that I sold to afford that A4000 w/ stock 040. And, honestly, a couple weeks after I pulled the trigger, and made that deal, I was pissed that I had done it. I spent a bunch of money to end up with less machine. The A1200 with 40mhz 030 was a faster, crisper, edgier machine in day-to-day use than the A4000/040 was. The 4000/040 rendered a little faster, but the A1200 tromped it where it counted -- usability.
I was unhappy with that A4000... Right up until I added the CSMKII. And then WOW! The only thought in my mind was "This card MAKES the A4000. THIS is what I expected to see when I bought this rig." The usability was great. Very crisp, folders were open before I released the mouse button. The onboard SCSI was fast as heck for the time, and the benchmarks and rendering speed were tremendous.
I didn't add the graphics card until later. After adding it, though, that was another "WOW" moment. :D
The retro Amiga rig I chose to keep is an A1200/030 very similar to the one I sold so many years ago. And still today I'd set it next to a stock 4000/040 and show you what I mean about usable speed vs. benchmark and rendering numbers. ;)

FW 97 will do rtf at least.

:(
I've never owned a A4000. Nice shape it is in, that's the wow factor.

Looks great - love the keyboard.

What's with the funky colours? Video editing labelled keyboard?
-edit-
Perhaps I should read the first post of a thread first :D.

Congrats.. almost as nice as mine.. :-).. Just kidding.. Good find and cool keyboard.

lol - it sure is an old toaster keyboard.

I would not bother with a CSPPC card unless you can get it under $500. Even with that, they are not very stable. I spent over $800 my DCE crap card then it died. Lost my money and card. Never again. I do have a CSMKII card and it's still running fine. Also have a GVP 060 card, love it! I highly recommend the GVP 4060 card from Software slut. See if they still have some. Well worth it for a 4000.

Yeah> That guy has to be busy or summat. I emailed him a couple of times with no answer so far. I just need to call him.
