hello guys
in the old days I had a standard Amiga 500 Plus with extra RAM and disk drive, and perhaps should have been so also today(http://eab.abime.net/images/smilies/smile.gif) I have read some forums but I do not know how I change the setup on my amiga, so I need step by step help if someone will put themselves into this mess I've made for myself. thanks(http://eab.abime.net/images/smilies/smile.gif)
hold on, here it comes
The system is A500 Plus 2Mb chip GVP a530Turbo 8Mb ram
Kickstart 3.1 (40,063) WB 2.1 (38.36)
ide / scsi adapter R-IDSC E / R 0-9 jumpers 4567 is closed
4 GB Transcend Cf card
DH0 disk ok,total blocks 99790,bytes pr block 512,disk type FFS ,volum system,gvpscsi divice,surfaces 16,sector 63,reserved blocks 2,speed 1,083,239
DH1 total blocks 4173118,speed 1,083,239. DH2 total blocks 3556222,speed 1,084,733
SYSINFO 68030, 68882,(68030 not in use)
Ram 8mb fast 24 bit dma ,priority 10, shunks 89
chip ram 2 , 24 bit dma , priority -10 chunks 13
Hdtoolbox V2.20 (driver not installed) i cant find any hardware in hdtoolbox at all(http://eab.abime.net/images/smilies/frown.gif)
WHDload . some games will work but most do not,
Here are some error messages I get
EXCEPTION "illegal instruction" s10 at s9A QUIT RESET MAKE COREDUMP
NMI AUTOVECTOR s7c at s9A6EEA resload s3CF2
Resload_loadkick invalid kikstrart image DEVS:kiskstarts/kick34005.a500
EXCEPTION LINE 1111 EMULATOR s2 AT s261FFF60 QUIT RESET MAKE CORE DUMP
I've seen several that have some of the same problems, and some have adjusted the maximum transfer successfully. but I do not know where or how to do this
the machine booted fine and working, what is the problem is that many games do not work in the WHDLoad (radload)
and hdtoolbox is empty
dose the rest seems okey ?
what can I do?
I'm a super amateur.
thanks a lot for help to get oil imperium and lotus 3 and more to run.
PS cf card purchased on the evilbay
thanks:afro:

Try setting the NoAutoVec tooltype on one of the games that crashes with the AUTOVECTOR error.
I also see you are missing the kickstart images, which causes the other error listed.
You need some additional rom files in DEVS:kickstarts, should be able to google these.
Also, in your sysinfo above it says:
SYSINFO 68030, 68882,(68030 not in use)
Do you have the turbo switch on the front of the a530 enabled?

Hello
sorry for bad information, the MMU (68 030 not in use)
I have cdrom on the Amiga that I can load kickstarts whit , how to save files from cdrom to Devs: kick starts?
have also seen that many adjust max transfer, and that this has helped many with less errors
but how do you adjust the max transfer?
-
The problems you've listed are not related to maxtransfer settings.
However, if you want to mess with HDToolbox, you need to change the tooltypes that tell it what .device to use. (looks like you are using gvpscsi.device)
change the following tooltype in hdtoolbox:
SCSI_DEVICE_NAME=gvpscsi.device
Then it should find your drive and you can follow the maxtransfer instructions found by doing a search.
-
Then I will not adjust anything in hdtoolbox without any reason.
I will do some experiments with files from cdrom to the cf card
Thank you for your help :)

I also had these problems with all my Amiga 1200's and 600's with CF cards. The problem lies the maxtransfer value. You have to lower to 00x1fe00. After changing that, you copy the game again on the harddisk. Now you won't have this problem again.
The problem is the default value of max transfer rate has set to high. This will cause corruption of your files.
-
I'd expect that to affect more than just whdload, but I've been wrong before.
Either way, the instructions are above to make your drive work in hdtoolbox, then you can check your maxtransfer.
-
Okay, but there is also another problem, and there is that Hdtoolbox is empty, it says that there are no drivers installed. all options you can do with hdtoolbox is
marked out.
I do not know how I get hdtoolbox to work.
what can I do?

you must use hdtoolbox to adjust the transfer settings. correct?

Yes, that's correct, but there is a possibility that you need to patch hdtoolbox for it to recognize CF cards. You can find the patch here: http://aminet.net/package/disk/misc/HDToolBoxPatch

I opened the SHELL and wrote HDToolbox gvpscsi.device
HDToolbox came up with this information the
V 2.20
interface.. address ..LUN.. status .. drive type
SCSI 0 1 Not changed TRANSCEN 2008
I went into the Define new drive and changed its name to SCSI_DEVICE_NAME = scsi.device
Manufacturer: TRANSCEN
DRIVE: D
DRIVE REVISION: 1.30
so I saved the changes but nothing is changed.
Cf card is purchased pre-installed and I will not format anything, just hope I can change maxtransfer and that it will get the system to work properly:)
I have GVP fastprep floppy, it shows
ID 1 Name:TRANSCEN ID:D REV 1.30 SIZE 3822MB
SIZE1 48 SIZE2 2037 SIZE3 1736 FILSYS AFS BOOT 0 MEM E
MASK 0xFFFFFFE
NAME
DH0
DH1GE_ME
DH2GE_ME
I need some guidance from here. I could try a bit of difference but are a little afraid to change the settings so that nothing will work anymore.
Many thanks

Use hdtool box, edit the device in the icon info to read gvpscsi.device (it defaults to plain scsi.device, and is why u dont see anything).
Make sure you hit return after you alter the values in the max transfer box or it won't "stay"
then after exiting the screen save changes to disk.

JESS, I did exactly what I feared. I got up hdtoolbox, I got as far as maxtransfer.
The last message was that there was no FFS in L: and the system simply locked up. it is quite obvious that I do not know what I'm doing. So now, NOT a dos disk in device TDHO
It seems that I need to try another cf card later
Thanks for trying:)
