Title: Amiga HD issues...
Post by: icbrkr on January 18, 2011, 05:44:35 PM
I'm in the process of rebuilding my 4000T (*sigh*) because I have a 13GB IDE drive in there that won't validate due to it being... well 13GB and running FFS (*sigh* again).  The plan is to rebuild it eventually with SFS or whatever.

Now the problem.  I put in a newer drive (if you call 15GB newer) and installed 3.9 back on it.  The plan was to copy the old drive to the new drive.  When I boot from the new drive, the old drive isn't found on the desktop and it isn't mounted. However, when I launch HDToolbox, it sees the drive and its partition.

So the question is... how do get this old drive mounted?  I'm guessing I'm missing a simple, obvious step (and typing mount whd0: gives me a 'Devs:mountlist not found).

Just a longshot as I'm no HDD expert :) But if you go into HDToolBox again, does it report that drives have been added and ask if you want to save the new configuration? If so, simply choosing to 'Save' could solve your problem and it might show up immediately or even after a reboot.

It's a good thought, but no, it doesn't ask me unfortunately.   But that's still an idea... where does it save this information anyway?

Well...it looks like you were mostly right ;)

This time I went in and selected my *current* HD (not the new one) that is running it and told me it needed to resave it. So.. I did.. and it all worked.  Awesome!
