Hi,
I've been putting off getting a new phone for far too long and I'm now seriously considering upgrading to an Android based device.
I know others here are using UAE4Android and I'm just curious about what device your using. I would appreciate hearing any pros and cons about these devices as well.

I have a Motorola Backflip (AT&T.) It's one of the lower end devices (CPU and memory-wise,) but it's nice because it has an actual keyboard and seems to be enough for UAE.

I've given UAE4Droid a try on my Motorola Defy, but controls are fiddly at best since it has only touchscreen input. I only tried Shadow of the Beast II yet. Game runs smoothly but is not entirely playable as the return key is not processed properly.
As for Android phones in general, I would heartily recommend going the Android route. Just make sure you get a phone with a high resolution display (800 x 480 at least). I'm really happy with the Moto Defy. It packs CPU and GPU specs not far from the OpenPandora (OMAP 3610 CPU + PowerVR SGX530, 512MB RAM). Each passing day I feel more smug for buying it.
Cheers!
Edwin

Not tried it yet, but my phone is pretty low down the cpu performance scale compared to many current android devices.

@tone,
I'm currently on AT&T also, but have been considering switching carriers if another looks better for me. It seems that AT&T is having a bit of trouble grasping the idea of the "open" nature of Android OS. As a result most of their phones seem to be lagging behind on the Android version. I'm also a bit disappointed with the choices available directly through AT&T. Looking at it differently though, at least there are choices as opposed to the iPhone.
Have you rooted your Backflip?

I'm using a ZTE Blade with FroYo, UAE4Droid runs pretty good on it. Uploaded some youtube videos showing UAE4droid on it.

It's a budget phone but it's a pretty good one. http://wwwen.zte.com.cn/en/press_center/news/201011/t20101108_194339.html
I actually got a rebranded Blade called Orange San Francisco (one with a OLED screen). The camera is crap compared to my SE k810i though, but that goes almost for all smart phone cameras (except for SE's phones).

Moto Droid (Milestone) here. Lower clocked CPU compared to new devices, but the speed is not bad, UAE4Droid runs nice. Otherwise I love the phone - all metal, nice WVGA screen, multitouch, soon 2,2 I hope. A bit heavy though.

I got a Droid 2. My 1st phone ever really, so don't have anything to compare to. I'm growing to like it, but the battery needs charging a lot I think.
Things I like:
Connects to my to my NAS media drive easy.
Gmail
Navigation
Connects to my Mini Cooper ODB II socket via bluetoof and shows me all kinds of cool stuff going on:

Also Moto Droid 2 (Verizon) here. It's a really great phone. I don't have a single gripe with it. As stated, battery life can occasionally be a little sketchy, but, honestly, it's as good or better than any phone in it's class. Powerful phones drain batteries quickly when cranked up. And if it's really a concern, you can just pick up another one and swap them unlike certain fruit-branded devices.
I haven't messed with UAE4Droid much, but the little I did, it seemed to perform quite well. Granted, I didn't really tax it, but it'll play the couple strategy games I threw at it. :) (Just make sure you use the 512k 1.3 kick image [easily available], instead of the legit 256k one. :P )

I had considered buying one of those Droid Powered E-books and hacking it to run Android without limitations, but...
...are there other touch screen based portable devices that might run Amiga better? Does the Droid port of UAE run full speed AGA, like fast enough to play Breathless, or should I look for something else/

I run UAE4Droid on an HTC HD2 (Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD 8250 1 GHz with Adreno 200 GPU (133MHz = 22 million triangles/sec)) and it's very very nice. :)

Is that fully transformed, clipped, depth-sorted, lit, textured and shaded triangles or just how fast it can calculate the triangle interpolants?

Root your phone by installing z4root, then install SetCPU and Juice Defender BETA (I highly recommend paying for the Ultimate Juice addon too).
Your battery life will go through the roof. :)

UAE4Droid runs perfectly well on my son's SF too.

Playing games not designed for touchscreen control is not a good idea.
I just use UAE for watching demos. :)

No idea. Probably the latter.

My coworker has a Mini and he is also thinking about getting an Android phone. I'll have to show him the link you've provided. I'm sure that will peak his interest!:)

I have. I kept it in the box until rooting was figured out and newer ROMs were popping up. Much more usable now.

Uh, what is ''rooted" mean?
