Title: When did Commodore start using SMPS power supplies?
Post by: freqmax on January 06, 2011, 03:51:18 AM
When did Commodore start to use switched-mode power supplies ?

I recall the A500 came with a heavy power box first. And the later model was light as feather with more power available.

All my Amigas came with traditional transformer based PSUs... I don't recall them ever using switched mode supplies. The Layer supplies were smaller and lighter, but a quick look inside confirms these were still transformer based.

This is from my experience anyway.

IIRC all mine were switched!!  (well, they said 'switched' on the brick, at any rate.)
