Hey Folks,
A while back a I ended up with the famous A500 tower in a trade. I thought it would be a cool system to have as my lone classic Amiga.
After months of tinkering with it and troubleshooting I just can't get it to work.
It powers up, all the light come on, the hard drive spins up.
One of the problems is I dont have an Amiga monitor to use the RGB port.
I've been only on the composite. I get a signal on the composite but only a blank
screen. You can even see the screen jump when you push the NTSC/PAL toggle switch.
I never hear the machine boot up and I never get an early startup screen when
I hold down both mouse buttons.
would anyone want to trade me something like a stock A1200 for it and see if they can get it to work?. I'm not really an Amiga expert so maybe some else would like a crack at it?
Its a loaded A500. It has:
3.1 roms
a GVP A530/030 with 8mb of ram
The 286 expansion on the A530
SCSi Hardrive
Custom tower with all leads to the back.
internal 56k modem w/ serial port switcher
CDTV keyboard
CDrom
SCSI syquest drive
Amiga Mouse

If I hadn't just made a New Years' resolution to get all of my Amigas reassembled and working...

@spihunter,
If you would like to split your machine I'm ready to buy some components, PM on way!

You should try to start the a500 alone, without all those extras, which were not designed for compatibility. :)
Cheers

Considering that he said he "inherited" the tower... does he even have the original cases/housings for the various parts? That would surely make parting it out problematic at best, I would think.

I got the tower in a trade for other Amiga stuff. The person that traded it didn't want it parted out and really don't want to either.
The original case for the A530 is long gone.
All PM's have been answered. I have one potential trade pending.....

it'ld be a mortal sin to split this tower ...

Ok, I'll bite. If you want to trade for C= 8bit stuff, let me know. Tom's tower is something I'd like to see preserved.

It looks like the trade is going to go through. The person I'm trading it to wants to keep it intact. That's what I really wanted. Maybe they can post better pictures/screen shots if they get it working.
