Yes, it's been that long since I last powered-down my A2000. I recently spotted the A-EON and it piqued my interest. I'll wander around having a good read before I start asking questions. I wish I'd spotted the A-EON before I spent good cash money on a windows7 desktop about a month ago.

The X1000 does look like a great machine!
I reckon it could be six months before you can buy an X1000 so don't worry about having bought a Win7 desktop, in the rapidly changing world of x86, your new box will be well out of date by then! ;)

While the X1000 does appear a nice machine for Amiga OS4 users there's also other options these days if the price is offputting. There's also MorphOS, which runs on some ppc Macs as well as a few "custom" boards and also runs a decent portion of system friendly (stuff that doesnt hit custom hardware directly (most old floppy based games, etc.)) AmigaOS 680x0 and ppc software "out of the box". In addition to this there's also AROS, which is an open source re-implementation of AmigaOS for industry standard pc hardware, as well as ARM, PPC and 680x0 hardware. Apart from 680x0 hardware however it is only API compatible, in that it takes a recompile for software to run (and 680x0 version is only just now starting to take shape), however there is the option for UAE intergration with x86 AROS, which creates a nice seemless illusion of Amiga software running natively (double click to launch software, AROS menus for 680x0 Amiga software, etc.).
If you've been away for 15 years there's a lot to catch up on. While it's far from a mainstream system these days "amiga" in all it's current day forms (Classic Amiga up to OS3.9, Amiga OS4.x, MOS, AROS, fpga hardware, emulation) is still far from innactive.

There's the Sam440ep-flex available now for the Amiga OS4 from http://www.acube-systems.biz/ and soon also Sam460ex, if your not interested in the X1000. The Sam can also run Linux and AROS, which is an open source re-implementation of AmigaOS. :)

man you picked a hell of a great time to come back after being in hibernation ..the X1000 is definitely the Queen of all miggies once she arrives but there's also the new Sam460ex and Sam440flex from ACube that currently run AmigaOS4.1 update 2

also, as as others have already pointed out, there are also nice actively supported Amiga-like OS's that have sprung out over the last 15 years as well...basically there is AROS that runs on Wintel machines and also supports some Acer Netbooks and MorphOS which runs on some models of old Apple hardware.
