Yesterday, I wanted to sample a tape recording, and send it as an .mp3 . I thought it would be an easy task, but:
- I had to use AHI-Record v1.6 to sample without time/frequency restrictions (then again I noticed a click noise, not due to hardware/cabling).
- Tried to edit the sample (eliminate the start/end points of the sample): Audio Master would do this, but I sampled from the PC (.wav) so I had to convert to 8svx/iff for audio master (MultiSample, yet another sw for doing simple conversions). Not to mention that the screen is Pal (has to be promoted -causing screen errors due to sprites- or use a scandoubler)
- MP3 conversion using Lame...
Is there any modern amiga sw (supporting RTG, samplers/sound cards etc.) for audio editing/sampling? I mean something freeware for simple tasks like that (not PSA just for recording a clip... It would be like using Photoshop for seeing/converting an lbm picture!)

@Cass
I use AHIRecord v1.7 to generate 16bit .wav files onto the HD.
I use Samplitude for any editing. It's superb and there is a free demo available.
Both the above support the Prelude sound card. Maybe other cards too (?).
To generate the MP3s, I use LAME. The latest version is 3.93.1 (for the 060) from Aminet.
Cheers,
