I have always admired Sound, Noise, and Pro Tracker. I do not like Octa-Med. Is there a classic looking tracker that runs from the hard drive and works with WB 3.1? Early trackers, like Sound Tracker, would only load from disk.

I have a bunch of trackers, and they all run from the Harddrive. I got them off Aminet.

Try Digibooster. Should be on Aminet.

digibooster rocks, ahx is also great (for chiptunes). but there are tons of other good trackers on aminet, thats true.

I already left the thread but had to come back just to ask.. what on earth does sound/noise/protracker has superior over octamed? Especially OmedV4 is a gem among old trackers in terms of features and usability.

For vanilla or MWB 3.1 : "Eagle" rocks. Pun intended. lightweight and easy to use. once you turn off all the crud... er features...

Interface preferences, no doubt. I always preferred Digibooster, even though Octamed is clearly superior.

Protracker 2.3D runs fine from a hard disk without any particularities... It helps assigning ST-00: to the program folder in s:user-startup, though, as such:
Assign ST-00: your:protracker/folder
This way you can save settings for colors/default folders etc.
Here's a link (http://ftp://ftp.untergrund.net/users/hitchhikr/old/tools/Protracker_v2.3d.zip)
