Title: A500 Virtual Hard Drive via Serial?
Post by: Super TWiT on December 19, 2010, 09:36:13 PM
Is there any way I can use my pc as a virtual hard drive for my amiga 500 via a serial link?

You can, e.g. Using Amiga Explorer. But it will be very slow, won't boot (so will need a boot floppy) and probably won't work with system-unfriendly software like games which switch off AmigaOS.

Hi there.

ProNET is the software you need:  Ultra-small system where you mount the PC as a DosDriver.

Its a beautiful system, and does exactly what you need.

Heres some more info about the program, http://www.soundtracker.org/raw/pronet.html

The links are dead but you can download it from AmiNet.

Good luck!!

My mistake - I thought you could do it with Amiga Explorer but it seems that only makes the Amiga devices accessible from the PC side. I still think any serial solution is going to be pretty slow and incompatible though.
