Title: Want 24-bit AHI-audio drivers for OS4!!!!!!!

Come on, folks! Time to get the 24-bit AHI-audio drivers ported to AHI for OS4. I am thinking about 24-bit Terratec and Audigy-drivers! Come on! We need them...

Also, OctaMED SoundStudio 2 with AHI-support has to come for the OS4, with full PPC-support, being fully PPC-native! Yeah! Could have this one on the AmigaOne! :-D  :-)  ;-)  :-o  8-)  :oops:  :roll:  ;-)  :idea:  :crazy:

This Thread should really be in software discusions.

It will be nice to have a nice new 24bit ahi audio driver.

Full surround support in AHI would be nice as well. (5.1 or higher).

Just a matter of contracts with existing software makers(for the Amiga) probably...

I don't think it's as "easy" as just writing drivers for these cards. If I understood it correctly, the 16 bit barrier is a limit of the AHI system itself, so an upgrade of that or a new system may be necessary to get 24 bit support.

Don't take my word for it, though - I'm not a coder or anything, merely a user with an interest in getting 24bit support. Someone please explain how this works if I'm dead wrong.  :-D

Right. I wish it was this easy!
Feeding 16-bit audio into the 24-bit drivers ain't going to help a lot, although the 32-bit Hifi modes actually let the drivers do the scaling, so there would be some benefit. For true 24-bit usage, the applications need to change as well if you want higher quality recordings and edit them in 24-bit. A change of the drivers will not solve this by itself.
