Post by: rubenscarrilho on December 14, 2010, 08:57:06 PM
(sorry for my bad English)

Can I use Amiga 1200 Kickstart 3.1 40.68  on Amiga 4000D ?

Kickstart 3.1 40.68 is the same for Amiga 1200 and Amiga 4000D?

Thank You!

not exactly. it might work to certain extent, but there are some model specific modules like pcmcia or perhaps ide driver, a few of them. so im not sure how far would you get.

Nope, you need A4000 specific roms. Although if memory serves i had someone sell me a problematic 4000 that crashed and had odd troubles, and it turned out to be 1200 roms in it.so if memory serves it will boot(or get to the insert floppy screen) but not work right..

Just out of interest, do the long numbers on the chips for the A1200 and A4000 version differ or are they the same?

Is there any ROM that works on all Amiga models? (given enough RAM)

The A1200 rom will give you a boot and working floppy, no HDD
