Post by: swift240 on December 14, 2010, 01:26:36 PM
Sitting here whiling away the time as you do.

I thought to myself is it possible to get Amiga OS4 on any thing else other than PPC hardware?
Like here my system is AMD Athlon 64 bit dual core each CPU 2.4ghz and 4gb of DDR2 ram at 800mhz using Linux Ubuntu 10.10 and Windows 7 and XP pro on seperate HD's

Is it possible to get Amiga OS4.0 on Amikit?
Is it possible to get Amiga OS4.0 on any thing else I have here?
Would i need any thing else such as AROS?
Will AROS run on what I have here?

TIA.

Mike.

AROS is a completely separate operating system. It's your only (native) option for x86.

AmiKit is analogous to a Linux distribution, except it's wrapped around WinUAE and therefore limited to OS3.x and 68K.

PearPC could be developed into a platform to run aOS 4.x, but you'd need to add uboot and multicore support to even give it a chance.  A lot of work.
