Title: Amiga 2000 w/ Laser Show Software
Post by: VCNW on December 08, 2010, 06:07:37 PM
I’m trying to revive an Amiga 2000. It has a blue card made by Laser Fantasy inc. It looks like one of those Laser show systems. Unfortunately, I cannot get it boot. It gives me several errors and I'm not sure what software it is trying to load. It says “loading production studio" and then "unknown command studio". Take look at the link below. http://www.vintagecomputersnw.com/?p=115

I'm not familiar with that light show card, but looks as if your OS is borked. Do you have Amiga OS 2.x Workbench on floppy?  If so, put that in your drive and turn the machine on.  Amiga's boot from floppy upon startup.  From there, you can look around and see if you need to copy certain files over to the HD in order for it to boot.  Open a CLI from the Workbench disk and examine the HD...

I kind of looks like the machine was set up to boot directly into the lasershow software. Try looking at the startup-sequence to see what it's trying to load.

If you can get it booted from a Workbench floppy, I would suggest trying to backup everything on the hard drive that you can salvage and getting a new hard drive, as the existing hdd is likely to be on it's last legs and it may be hard to find that Laser Show software again.

Very interesting!  A good companion for the laser show carts I have for the Commodore 64.

Every day I read the posts here and every day it just gets cooler, I have never heard of this program or card. I am very interested in what it should do. I hope you keep us updated on the outcome. Do you have any light show devices, did this thing control stage lighting. maybe it needs those things to complete the boot process. I checked out the web site for the software, how cool that they released it into the public domain.

Hey this is some interesting stuff. I didn't get a chance yet but I think I'll enjoy the read over on the laserfx site.

@VNCW
I was looking at the picture of your A2000 with the blue card and I was kind of wondering what slot the card is in? Is this an autoconfig card or does it need to be manually configured?

Also what do all of the blue header connectors on the card go to? Is this meant to drive three different lasers (as in RBG)?

Is that the software that is written in (crappy Microsoft) Basic and only works on Workbench 1.3 and below?

Man, I'd love to get my hands on one of these to put together a laser/video stuff for my bands live shows. I bet they never come up on ebay
