No saying I did, not saying I didn't... just in case the Insurance company find this and want's their money back... :sealed:

Used to worry about the smell coming from an A1200 power brick I owned but never seemed to warm up enough to cause concern about it igniting

After he ruined CBM & the future of the Amiga, I hear Medhi Ali removed public listings of his phone and address due to similar concerns ...
This just in :)

prior experience includes serving as the President of Commodore International, where he accomplished a major operational turnaround. Mehdi served as a Vice President at General Motors Corporation
Wow, he's got a hell of a track record.
Does "turnaround" cover from profitable to bankrupt? lol

Yes. There was one in the Philadelphia Tristate Area. It was an Amiga 1000 with a bridgeboard on one side. The owner came home just a minute or two after the fire started and it was an Amiga 1000 on fire. People were calling his BBS from places like Florida so the drives were running constantly because at that time there weren't a lot of public domain programs at that time.

Medhi Ali is the true antichrist of the Amiga world, I'd love to nail that little bugger to a cross... :madashell:
(mind you he's a rich little antichrist though... :))

I'm ashamed to admit it but yes i almost did burn my house down. When i was about 10 i had a temper problem. I had a habbit of punching things when i lost. After i lost a game (can't remember which) i punched the monitor on the screen and the monitor went flying off the back of the table. Sparks flew everywhere and set fire to the curtains which i wisely moved quickly out the way after i hand held the flame to put it out. I never lost my temper again. Lifes biggest lesson.

I zapped myself good with 110V poking around inside a dead 3000T power supply while it was plugged in. Live heatsink indeed!
No fires though, just nearly bit my tongue off.

The early early c64 psu's had a habit of catching on fire.. they remedied it pretty quickly, instead they just kill the c64 now LOL

No. But I know someone that had an antique radio (cloth cord) that literally burned their house down.

I cant recall which magazine it was, one of the bigger publications back in the day (either CU Amiga, AF, or ACAR I beleive), but I recall an article about someones house burning down, melting someones a1200, but it still worked :) Anyone else see this ?

Indeed it does!
This guy makes his money by screwing corporations. But he still gets gigs because he has experience handling billion dollar companies. I hink it was Steve Jobs who said that he brought John Scully into Apple because the company had grown to be massive, and they needed someone with experience running a massive company! That didn't work out well for Apple did it :-/
The business world is a conservative one, and conservative thinking keeps you at the sataus quo at best, and destroys the company at worst... But most of the time it slowly atrophies the company :(

Have you seen the new iFLAME charger at the Apple store?
