Hi everyone
I've been lurking a bit recently and decided to pop in and say hi. Good to see some of the regulars are still around. Would be good to hear how everyone is getting on. I'm settling in to my first post as a Speech and Language Therapist in primary schools. Awesome, awesome job :afro:

Oh well played that man! And welcome back :D
I've got a new job myself, just doing security atm as a means of making some ok money in a role that allows for flexibility in the amount of time you put in (read: ideal for paying way through college/uni).
My most recent escapade can be seen here (http://www.amiga.org/forums/showpost.php?p=596315&postcount=14) :)
Good to see you back :)

Nice! Good to hear you're getting back on your feet. What are you planning to study?

Just had a read - maybe I can help your shift situation by offering some therapy to your speech impaired coworkers? ;) Mind you, I have no idea what you do with adults (therapy-wise...).
Good to see you back :)
Cheers :D

True though, isn't it? Last couple of days, people assumed long-vanished have been resurfacing. Which is no bad thing :D

Hi dude! Sadly not, it all had to go so I could pay my bills :( Still miss the old girl from time to time, but it was sadly an expensive luxury I just couldn't justify any more :(
Is your house still made of A4000s?
-
Moto in da house!
How are ya dude? Glad to see you're settling into your new career path, top job good sir!
Working my backside off these days, although I'm taking some time off over the next 4 weeks, so hopefully I can recharge the batteries.

Hello mate! I'm also looking forward to some time off over Christmas as I've been working too hard, and have had a horrible flu bug type thing :-( I suppose you have to expect these things when you work with kids...
Don't work too hard!

Don't work too hard!
When I started working in education I'd get sick all the time, now I'm fairly immune to the winter bugs and if I do pick one up, I rarely feel all that unwell.

Thanks :)

Health Science, initially.

Personally given the adults involved I'd recommend dose of 12gauge mouthwash ;)
-
I've been thinking about studying again, but I just can't seem to get myself to do it. Personal discipline isn't my thing. :(

Sounds interesting. What's it all about? (I'm aware I could just google it, but in the interest of social interaction I'll ask you instead ;) )

Ahh oral hygiene... One of my placements was on an acute neuro ward. Half the people on that ward had almost completely unintelligible speech until I removed all the crap from their mouths, and all of a sudden they were much easier to understand. Pretty shocking stuff :(

It isn't mine either. Towards the end of my degree I had to get my other half to hide my iPhone, put parental controls on my MacBook, set up an "empty" user account and change all the passwords.

Great to see you overcome these obstructions to your posting on the org :D

Actually it was mainly the lure of this site which precipitated the need for the aforementioned parental controls ;)

Indeed. As moderator, I hold you personally responsible for the whole situation. You feel good about that, do you? Feel good about endangering my degree, career and whole future?

Is your house still made of A4000s?
Well, since you last visited I've had an extension built using more A4000's as bricks and A1200's slotted together as roof tiles :D

Funnily enough I have been considering it too.
I can't fathom why I would want to torture myself with studies again but there you go.
It must be a mid-life thing. Problem?

The first step on the path toward becoming a nurse.
Ahh oral hygiene... One of my placements was on an acute neuro ward. Half the people on that ward had almost completely unintelligible speech until I removed all the crap from their mouths, and all of a sudden they were much easier to understand. Pretty shocking stuff :(
Aye, I'll bet.

@the_leander
Night shift?

@the_leander
Night shift?
Aye, just finished it. Was only a short shift this time around.
Hardly worth getting out of bed for tbh (4.5hrs), but every little helps I suppose.
-
At least you'll be used to working shifts when you start nursing ;) A highly undervalued profession - much respect for choosing it.

much respect for choosing it.
Even before I start the access course I have to get through initial selection and then past an interview.
Presumably they'll be doing something similar at the beginning of the degree course to weed out the gomers.
If it doesn't work out this time around I'll probably start applying further afield.
Should be interesting if nothing else :)

Welcome back motorollin. Stay a while...

I'm sure you'll do fine. If you're passionate about nursing then it will come across in your interview.
