I received an email today. I had taken pictures at the request of users for getting in contact with the owners of the MOS building because it was scheduled to be demolished. Some of the users were under the impression that no stone was to be left unturned in their quest for leftover Amiga technology in the building. I can't guarantee that this email is legitimate but I think they got my email from my trying to contact the owners. It is your responsibility for vetting or background checking the individual or individuals offering a sale as I take no responsibility in your transactions. The information is as and I'm quite happy not owning a part of Commodore history.
Here is the email:
"I am working on estimating costs for demolishing the former Commodore/MOS Technologies factory In Pennsylvania. One aspect to consider in our cost estimate is the value of the building materials. Currently we are looking at scrap values."
"I believe that you have some interest in Commodore computers and the history of their manufacture. My question to you is whether there may be an interest within the Commodore Amiga community at large for purchasing bricks and/or other structural materials from the factory. Perhaps a web-based purchasing and shipping methodology could be arranged. Any input would be appreciated."

Hopefully they'll be disposing of the contaminated building materials per state and federal regulations instead of giving/selling them away.
-
I'll head up there with a sledgehammer if I want a piece.

Supposedly EPA found the facility to be "clean" in 2005, but yeah, given the biohazard problems that plant had I certainly wouldn't be too keen on parts of it...

I, for one, welcome our mutated Commodore-Amiga collector overlords and their disfigured offspring.

I'm in philadelphia,pa a quick hop away. If anyone wants bricks, I too will just head up there with a hammer!
I've seen the building many times. Sad... Hey its a place to drive to when its 3:30am and I'm hammered.

Don't drive anywhere when you're hammered.

Well, if they want to sell useless junk, they've come to the right place! ;)

I read this and thought, "MorphOS has/had a building? Cool!"
Edit:
Here it is, for all you do-it-yourselfers! Get those jackhammers ready:

Pan right and that is the buildings front door/lobby.
The "EPA superfund site" is a small structure behind the cement barricades in the link I made below.
It is(was?) a pump house that injected and then extracted solutions to rinse the ground & water directly below the leaky structures that were located behind the front building. A decade+ ago Dr. Ed Hepler showed me this when I visited him from Amiga Inc/SD. So I'd say bricks from the front building are likely very clean - concrete from the back parking lot not so much...

Hmmm... after seeing those pics and the other undercover activities you've been getting up to recently I'm gonna have to start calling you Inspector Clouseau from now on... ;)
(either that or you really an FBI agent... :nervous:)
