Hi all you great amiga.org users
A while back I tolded you about the great classic Shoot'em up for our Amiga Battle Squadron, was in the process of being ported to smartphones with all of its fast slick game features.

This a a damn hard game.
I never bothered with the Amiga version, probably because I played the Mega Drive version first.

The Amigaversion runs pretty good in UAE4Droid though.

I never bothered with the Amiga version, probably because I played the Mega Drive version first.
The amiga version was more balanced and smooth and not as hard. The Mega Drive version was done way to fast due to a very tight deadline and we didn't pay as much attention as we did with the Amiga version which is my favorite. :)
It is the Amiga version running on the iPhone. :)
The music itself on the Amiga version is soooooo much better than the Mega Drive.

imho its a shame to see these old good games on no buttons devices.
I find some of these hard to play on my ipod touch but my son seems to have no problem so I think it may be just another step in the evolution of gaming

The last generation consoles still have control pads with buttons :)

Are virtual buttons being pushed? It's hard to tell in the video. For single-button shooters that don't power up weapons when a button is held down, I've always wondered why we bother to have a fire button at all. Most people just push it repeatedly anyway, and a built-in auto-fire saves finger strain.
It's not related to this game, but I hate playing games with virtual stick and button interfaces. You spend 66% of the game with your thumbs or fingers covering 66% of the screen. I think it sort of defeats the purpose of the touch screen. Time to come up with a new interface paradigm. :-)

You have a point. :) In the video you can see it is autofire and no firebuttons being pressed down or touch. The only time there is touch to the screen is when launching the smartbomb. :)
