Title: Possibly in the market for working CyberstormPPC.
Post by: redrumloa on December 09, 2003, 11:18:30 AM
Since my A4kT project seems to be building steam I figured I'd test the market for a solid working CSPPC. If you have one for sale let me know tthe specs and asking price. Must be guaranteed nonDOA and has been well cared for.

Hi red,

AFAIK ALL the last production stock of CSPPC are defective (from 2001 last production date).

Vesalia has few CSPPC but onestly, when, the last year i've written to them to ask IF the CSPPC boards was been tested before sells it, they has NEVER reply to me, so . . .  . pay attention :-)

Ciao

@redrumloa:

You could always ask DataKompaniet (http://www.amigashop.com/) about their CyberStormPPC cards.

Those are likely the same production run, I'll avoid. I'd rather get a well cared for Phase5 model.

Hi red,

you can even contact those DataKonpaniet company, and ask them if they have tested the CSPPC before sells it.

Should be useful and interesting for all us,  to know if really ALL the last stock is defective.

Ciao

I've seen several pop up on ebay.de over the last few months. I'm sure if you look one will show up again soon. If you want an 060 MK II, there was one on ebay.com the other day that even had the optional SCSI adapter installed.

Found a few for ya in Germany.

Not a problem, I want mine from DCE myself. Maybe they should bid on them for us and send those!!

@Framiga:

I've bought my CSPPC card from Vesalia 6 months ago or so. I paid for a 233Mhz - PPC, 50Mhz - 060 model. What I received was a Phase 5 card which was 180Mhz PPC, 50Mhz - 060 and it was non-functional on the PPC end. They did accept it back for repair and it's now at DCE. :-) Hehe, I did try to get it fixed elsewhere, however both Amiga.fr and Hyperion said that PPC chip problems are only fixable by DCE due to special machinery that only DCE has (if you look at your 604e chip on CSPPC you'll know why...). So I've sent my card back to Vesalia as it was still under warranty and they forwarded it to DCE for repair. I was hoping to get a direct replacement from Vesalia, but I wasn't that lucky.

I now hope that Ron will be able to give me more info on the repair process. If it can't be repaired, I guess I should ask for another card from Vesalia, but I've heard that DCE can repair anything that is not related to 68k socket, as those are hard to find.
