Hi Guys,
I'm interested to see what you see when your Amiga(s) finish booting?
Here's what I currently see on the 3 Amiga's I have set up for daily use :)
A1200 Desktop

Thanks,

I usually stick with the standard 3.9 icons and one of the backdrops 3.9 comes with.
-
Standard 3.9 icons, no backdrop on my A1200. Anything to lower the strain on AGA. :-)
-
Custom drawn icons on 128 colour screen for my main Amiga OS3.5 (can't put a pic here as this sites PG and my backdrops XXX).
On my other Amiga's mostly running at 16 Colours, a mixture of custom drawn & standard 3.1 icons and various background patterns randomly selected at each boot... :)
-
This was my OS3.5 based workbench in 2003, running on BlizzardPPC/BVision
(http://www.amiga.org/gallery/images/810/large/1_1003.jpg)
Stock 3.5 icons.
This was it almost exactly one year later, running a then beta version of OS4. Same machine:
Yes, I know the clock was screwy in that shot. I'd reflashed my Blizzard and didn't even notice the fact it was set grossly in the future until afterwards :)
This was it running 3.9 just last year sometime. The image was actually taken to show MidiIn running, rather than 3.9 itself:
Not a lot of difference to the 3.5 other than the dock and the fact I decided to drop a resolution. The old eyes aren't what they once were ;)
I don't have a tendency to go for fussy backdrops. Solid colours, gradients, simple(ish) designs or scenery. Occasionally the odd game-related bit of artwork :)
-
Stock 3.1 icons and a low colour background picture. A maximum of 16 colours in the workbench.

-
I had Vanille from FF13, but then I sold the A4000 cause 400$ was alot cooler than firing that thing up to play games I already own for Sega and stuff.
-
Stock 3.0 workbench for me :)
-
My OS3.9 with AfAOS and Ken's Icons. Custom background made by a friend @ AmigaHellas (yep, the BPPC is mine lol)

Here are my setups:
My A600, with Apollo 620 which is running basic Classic Workbench 68k setup
(http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm105/fitzsteve/IMG_0541_pt.jpg)
My A1200 Desktop (Blizzard 1230) Classic Workbench ADV SP
(http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm105/fitzsteve/IMG_0539_pt.jpg)
My A1200T, 060/PPC/Mediator/Voodoo5 This has a few setups...
Amigasys4AGA
(http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm105/fitzsteve/IMG_0536_pt.jpg)
Classic Workbench P96 (the WinUAE version setup for real Amiga)
And Stock 0S3.9 with WarpOS/Warp3D as this is the best way I found to get all the WOS/Warp3D Games to work :afro:
Lastly my A4000, this has a PicassoIV and is running Classic Workbenc OS3.9 (Yes you guessed it I'm a big fan of Classic Workbench)

@fitzsteve
Could you not get a copy of QuickGrab (http://aminet.net/package/gfx/misc/QuickGrab1_1) from aminet?
-
This is my A600's Workbench background and icons. It's only 4-colours and not using any extra patches, just personalised the standard preferences and edited the icons.
This is how it looks on my A600, the screen turned out very glary so it doesn't look as nice as it does in real life. My A600 is kept clean and dust-free by this awesome dust cover given to me by my good friend fitzsteve! :) (Thank you again for the lovely gift, Steve!)
Oh, and behind the A600 and monitor you can see my A1600 netbook, which is connected to the monitor's VGA port while the A600 is connected through S-Video, so I can switch between OS3.1 and Aros without moving away. While the PCMCIA SRAM card is plugged in, I can use the Serial Null-modem cable connected to a USB adapter in the netbook to go online (well that's the plan, just need to finish setting it up) so I can go online with 4MB of RAM instead of just 2MB when I use the PCMCIA Ethernet card. The A600 is faster with the SRAM too.
-
My screen is GREY! set off by a really nice accent of GREY! Not happy with it though, cause the window borders are a plain blue, and not GREY! A work in progress...
-
@Zipper thats what I need - cheers, come back later for the updated pics!
@Karlos I didn't try that one but I tried some others and they didn't work so I gave up, but will try that one later...
@Cammy, You're welcome. I'm glad the A600 cover arrived safe and that you're pleased with it :)
Steve.

What software do you guys use under MorphOS and classic Amiga OS, to make all images load in Fast RAM rather than the Video RAM? If I could get around this, I'd start using desktop images. :)
-
If you use 3.1 and newicons there is a setting in in newicons prefs to use fast ram.
AFAIR (I'm still setting up my A4000 with a compact flash card) in 3.9 there is a setting in workbench prefs (?) that lets you use fast ram for icons at least.
Cybergraphx prefs has an option to use fast ram instead as well-but even then some chip ram is is still used, but a lot less.
If all you have is AGA then i'd just use magic workbench in 8 colours with one of its patterns or do a color reduction of a backdrop you like (or one of the gazillion available on Aminet) using the magic workbench pallette in PPaint, or ImageFX with high dithering settings (Floyd Steinberg worked best for me). Its still fast, looks OK and doesn't chew up a lot of chip ram.

^ This. Also, FBlit is a must-have.
-
@Karlos I didn't try that one but I tried some others and they didn't work so I gave up, but will try that one later..
I'd be surprised if it didn't work, was always the one I relied on until I got an RTG card and used cybergrab and later sgrab.

Here are my setups:
Fitzsteve, nice setups, but doesn't it bother you when you use a 16:9 monitor and a 4:3 screenmode and all your icons and background are stretched out like that?
-

Thanks for the kind words, nope not too bothered about the stretching. I can always change it to 4x3 like in the A1200D shot, that was taken on the same screen. I would setup the workbench in 1280x768 but the damn TV just wont take the Picasso Screen Mode, always out on sync...
The WarpOS games like Doom/Quake/Wipeout all look fine in squashed 4x3 mode so I tend to leave it that way for PC input which is how the RTG is connected to the TV :)
The best thing about the 16x9 screen being an LCD TV it has RGB Scart so the native stuff like AGA games are displayed nice and sharp, plus games that have black borders can be zoomed out to fill the screen in 16x9 or 14x9 :afro:

I have a very pure environment on my main maschine.

Audrey Hepburn, eh? From the days when women weren't afraid to have eyebrows :)
Try this one (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/0/05/Hepburn-afternoon.jpg)...

Well, she's just lovely. Was sad day when she died a couple of years back.
And of course Truman Capote did a brilliant thing with 'Breakfast at Tiffany's'. The movie, albeit the modified end, is great, too.
-
Not long ago I had a proper 4:3 screen for the A1200, but I didn't do any screenshots recently. So here's a 16:9 one. It tends to look "too sharp" in the picture, because the display device is actually a not-extremely-configurable television (at least I get RGB AGA by a flick of the remote).

I hope people can see these ok.

I used the same Dragon background on my A2000HD, which is currently offline for repairs.

An old one from my A2000. I've since disabled AfA and gone back to a basic 3.9/glowicon setup for speed and nostalgia. :P
-
It's been so long since I had any of my Amigas turned on I can't remember what my WBPatterns are. This will probably change as I just got a care package from Poland with an A1200 busboard! Time to start cutting up the massive PC tower I've been saving...
-
Well, in my WinUAE I have one background with.... yeah the great Freddy Krueger altough the last movie (the worst of alls) and in my Sam I have one Fairy in a forrest, but both case I use PNG icons, mines and the others designers.
-
WoW! Some great backdrop pics and icons there, and Cammy's A600 setup is awesome!!
I've just changed my backdrop pic to let Santa know what I want for xmas ;)

Until recently I had an X1000-themed backdrop. My drawers & trashcan look like they are from WB 1.3 (slightly enhanced to fit the resoution & color depth). OWB is my hands holing a glowing globe. AmigaWriter is my black & white drawing of a quill in ink and CygnusEd and Multiview have had some makeover too.
