Title: CDROM emulator?
Post by: orange on November 24, 2010, 07:52:22 PM
Is it possible to make a drive (hdd, flash) that would emulate cdrom, like those floppy emulators?
I presume that for some reason its not easily doable with bluray drives on consoles that use heavy encryption, but what about the ones we have in cdtv, cd32...?
(pity they are not IDE, but the signal is digital anyway)

Well you can use MountISO if you just want to use .iso files stored on some other medium.

It's possible alright - just a matter of sending and receiving the correct signals... But I can't see too many developers thinking that it's a worthwhile project. Are you thinking of using it for game CD images for quicker loading / convenience etc?

Such a device already exists. I've imported one from korea.
