Well, just got back from a 5+ hour road trip and was it worth it!
Ended up getting the stuff for the going price of a stock A4000 on Ebay:
2-3 large boxes of hardware loaded with cards, etc. (will dig thru these tommorow.)
but I spotted a bunch of Individual Computers boxes, tbc's, toasters and a A2065. Also spotted a cool Wizard 3-button mouse, octopus cable, etc.)
A1200 that I was told had an accelerator and flixer fixer and other goodies.
SCSI Tower full of drives, another full of TBC's.
Monitors (1942, 1084s, 1080 and a really nice CEI 1962 Multisync)
All of this was really cool but then my jaw was about to drop..............
Included was a A4000 toaster/flyer system that showed a '060 when I booted it up.......but I was really shocked when I popped open the case and found a
CYBERSTORM PPC 604e/50mhz 68060 with 128megs of ram.
(I will check specs of PPC tomorrow) ** IT'S A 233!**
Woo-Hoo!!!! I have been dreaming of a setup like this for years!!!
Amazing that you can still find good Amiga gear in the wild! However, I really need to tone it down.... this is becoming an obsession. :)
-
Well done. Great get. I hope you enjoy the A4000 and the goodies.
Goody goody yumm yumm..!
-
Nice. Looks like christmas has come early for you, have fun.
-
A few months ago I picked up an A4000 almost for free, no CS PPC or anything else inside, but yeah it's still possible.
You just need to find a kind person and be in the right place at the right time :roflmao:
-
I've picked up a free A4000 last year but it was a crappy yellowish bad-smelling non working dusty computer.
-
2 weeks ago I bought an A1200 in Infinitiv Tower with Apollo 1240, Scandy etc. for ~$130 - not nearly as great as your find, but just the accelerator itself is worth more.

Been there, do it until you get tired of it and then sell the extra stuff. I wasn't happy until I'd had at least one of everything.
-
Awesome find! Congrats!
-
Yeah Tone, I hear what you're saying.
I found that the only way to find good Amiga stuff without paying crazy Ebay prices is to just keep finding bulk deals and then search through the haystack looking for the golden needles.
Now I need to start selling some of the excess and just keep enough for spares.
-
A friend of mine once found a pound coin in a lump of soil. Lucky sod.

 sounds like me too yeah, considering what I have got already.
But now I can swap a few things, I'm already swapping an A3640 for a nice A3001 for one of my A2000's.
I do however like to do some garage find with a dusty A4000 and a CS PPC inside for a case of beer or a good bottle of whiskey or something.
-
Found a couple of other goodies.
Micromys mouse adapter.
Indivision 4000
A3640 ver 3.1
......gonna keep digging
-
Remarkably good luck. Unlike most of you, I'm not into collecting hardware that does perform well enough to be considered for daily use (to avoid Linux, Windows and Mac OS altogether).
That 4000's specs make me jealous. I could see that as a primary system. AOS 3.X, AOS4.X, and MorphOS - all would run on that.
Pretty neat.
-
Nice catch indeed. Congrats!
-
Wowzers... that's one hell of neat find you got there, congrats... :)
Any chance of giving the rest of us a map of the road trip you took, you never know we might get lucky too

@Sandman
Wow. Some at that kit is obviously recent. The previous owner is either 1) divorced, 2) dead, 3) fed up with the Amiga, or 4) still reeling from the burglary and not sure how to value his Amiga kit on the insurance forms. It really does sound too good to be true. Crazy world.

Incredible find there! I'd love to find a deal like that, especially on a PPC equipped Amiga :)
