Wow, $9.95 for a 68000, who'da thunk it.

I'm gonna have to start calling all my auctions "Military Spec"  :-D

Well I dont know about being Mil-Spec or not, but I did just open up some of the computers here I work on here (US Navy) and there are a few that use Motorola 680x0 CPUs. The do look the same as the ones Doomy talks about.

There was a 68EC020 in my mums washing machine. What does that rate? Laundry spec?

Wasn't the 020 the first fully 32-bit 'clean' 68k?

I guess this one was :-)

I was a little surprised to see it when a technician had to come around to service the washing machine. He pulled it apart, and there was this embedded system with a 16MHz rated 68EC020 sat in the midst of some DRAMs and other bits and bobs.

I had an unexpanded A600 at that time and was slightly peeved at the notion my mum's washing machine was probably considerably more powerful

It has a ceramic body that dissipates heat better then the more common plastic-bodied 68000 processors

Uhm, what heat can a poor 68000 produce anyway?

That reminds me of a time in the mid 90's when I started taking every electronic device I could find to bits, to see if they had a 68K cpu in them... None did, but many had Z80s... :-(

Yup, the gold cover comes off if you heat it (it's only held on with a bit of solder).

Under there is the chip. It's not a heat sink, it's simply the cover to the chip cavity.

As far as I can tell, the "Mil-spec" chips are simply early verions of the chip which have to be wired up by hand, later chips can probably be done by machine and sealed in a plastic case in one go.

I know that they got into a big spat on Amigaworld.net, hence where he has fled to, under the pseudonym 'A2000King', I believe.

Doomie played dumb, stating that he 'never received the package' and that they should 'discuss this in private', instead of on a 'forum'.

No, my friend Doris sent it to me. She said it reminded her of me, 'cos I'm a leo and was a sniper in the military. Seems to fit me. I use it as my avatar now for just about everything.  :-D

As stated in the Auction, it's for the one, the ONLY Military Spec'ed, DoomMaster.

@Argo,

I'll take it down, if it bother's you. Seriously.

Do you really have to switch from Argo to Argo_AFK every 15 minutes on #Amiga.org (j/k, I'm bored), this thread creates the same kind of nuisance as XChat does when stupid new meaningless messages get posted by a bot or some such and I have to keep clicking back to the red blinky tab, to check if anything interesting is happening...

I saw this chip too on E-bay couple days back, I just got worried...

;-) It does seem a little overdone.  How about we leave DoomMaster alone, instead of fanning the flames?

Yeah, I was in the IRC channel that was put up for that occasion. IIRC there was only 1 a.orger playing :-/. (I don't have UT).

Hi all,

onestly, i was one of the first to play with DoomMaster posts, for 1, 2 10 times then . . . when i'm began to understand that Doom is something "more than a so-called troll", i've stopped to reply him.

Ciao

What are you trying to say? That DoomMaster is really a secret agent or Amiga spy?!

No, just that he's 'hard of thinking'.

I knew this lad once, who swore blind that his dad's old Bristol (http://www.bristolcars.co.uk/index2.htm) would beat any motorbike on the planet from 0-60.  He just would not have it that racing bikes smoke just about anything on 0-60 times, never mind that knackered old banger.
