Hi all,
Well, I bought the Soccer Kid game on ebay australia from a seller who states he ships worldwide, he didn't state the shipping cost in the auction but intead he wrote:
"Overseas postage and packaging costs will be calculated at end of auction by Australia Post"
Regarding postage he said in his auction:
"Seller's payment instructionsI will contact the winning bidder by email within 20 hours after close of auction. Please ensure that the email address you have registered with eBay is the one I can contact you on. I would appreciate it if payment arrangements could be underway within 3 days of end of sale. Under no circumstances will I end an auction early. The item shown on this auction page is the actual item you are bidding on."
So, it's been like 1 month now since the auction ended, I've tried to contact the seller so many times via email, I've requested the "total from the seller" too many times too and I've got no reply to my messages. I do not want to leave negative feedback and forget about the auction since I really want this game... so I was wondering if anyone has ever dealt with this seller from Australia, his alias on ebay is: frank47_1999 (http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/frank47_1999/)
I really don't know what's going on, he has 100% positive feedback...
Any suggestions? Should I keep waiting?
Cheers,
Dragster

Was there a quick payment checkout option available? Clearly, shipping an Amiga game to some guy in South America is not worth his time. Don't wait, e-mail him and ask WTF? If it's truly worth it that is...

Nope...

Well, first... Mexico is part of North America actually, 2nd.. it should be exactly the same for him to ship to any overseas location, the auction clearly states worldwide shipping..

Yeah, I've done this too many times now... I guess I'll keep trying, I don't want to miss this game.. it is complete and almost for free!
Thanks for the suggestion tho.

A month is unacceptable. If you haven't paid him anything I'd leave negative feedback and buy another copy of it. I think I was one on ebay UK.

@ Dragster
Why haven't you opened up a dispute with ebay, anytime this sort of thing happens to me ebay soon refund my money after opening up a dispute with them... :)

Thanks Franko, well... the thing is that I cannot open a claim since I haven't paid anything... and I haven't paid 'cause he has not stated the shipping cost... so, my real options seem to be:
1. To keep trying contact him...
2. Forget about it and leave negative feedback.
I'd try to look for another copy on ebay.co.uk, unfortunately in general terms amiga games are much more expensive in the UK... can't miss Soccer Kid AGA for less than $2 :-)
Thanks for the suggestion.

Well in that case, I'd honestly say if you haven't paid anything yet then forget about it, the guys obviously not interested, it's his loss...
Why not do a bit of googling and erm... find an alternative free source... ;)

Actually, this happened to me once. I bought a Plus-4 on eBay about 10 years ago. Paid like $10 for it, shipping included, but never got it. I emailed the guy I don't know how many times and eventually got a response back from his ISP that he had passed. (Legit, I checked it out.)
Shyt happens.

if you really want this game,
make up an absurd shipping that is over the normal estimated cost (say $50 ?)
just pay the money and wait. if he still doesnt contact and doesnt send you the game, open a dispute and get your money back.
-
Has he actually listed anything else up for sale on ebay since? Has he received any new feedback since the time you won the game? All important checks to see if he is still even bothering with ebay ;)
-
I have an original copy of this game somewhere boxed. PM me

hehe, thanks mate... well. it's not that I want to buy the game to play it, I have it (not an original tho), so the point on buying it is to have the original 'cause I'm collecting some amiga games :-)

Well, this is actually a great idea, it doesn't really affect me to pay some extra $ in order to send a real payment covering for what the shipping cost could be and force him to ship the thing!
I will probably do this.
Thanks!

Yep, I have done this and no, there is no activity on his account since I bought the game... nor he has received any feedback, so who knows, might be that he is ill or something...

What I see happening there is that after payment the game then ships having cost the buyer a whopping $52 and with the seller saying thank you very much.

Have you tried emailing him on different email address. Maybe you are hitting his SPAM. Also did you send messages directly though eBay itself or just email?

Yep, me too... I wouldn't pay that much for a game that would cost $2...in any case, I'd pay $12 or $15 that would cover for the game and reasonable shipping.

I've sent him messages through ebay's messaging system and asked several times for the total using the "request total from the seller" option/button...
-
Well, I've got news from him today. He sent me a message and said:
"I have been involved in a horrific motorbike accident. I left hospital
today after 20 days and 2 operations. My left side from the hip to the
ankle is full of steel screws, rods and plates. I am unable to walk let
alone pack and post anything. Sorry. Contact me if you like on
xxxxx@xxxxxx.xxxx"
So, I emailed him back and told him that hopefully he will get better soon and that I'm willing to wait until he's able to post the game or have someone who can help him post it.
Sigh, poor guy, I never thought something like this could have happened to him....

Wow... some may sceptical and say that's one hell of an excuse he gave you, but strange things do a happen. I suppose for a few bucks it's best to give him the benefit of the doubt (or ask to see his X-rays...) :)

hehehe... who knows, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, though I'm not letting that game go for any reason!

Is there any other kind? Virtually everybody I know that's been in one has ended up in bits :(
