Recently I got an A2000 keyboard, it seems some keys are faulty. Those probably can be fixed by spares from a dead A500 I also own, but it would be great to know exact positions before keyboard disassembly.
Is there (available) tool/utility capable of showing which key is pressed ?
Thnx.

You'd think the program KeyToy on the early disks would do the trick - but nope, that thing's always been worthless. lol
To test keys, just open up a shell and type away :)

Thx, but I thought there was a quite little tool, came on Fish or some of DigiTech utility disks...you could remap and create complete custom keymaps...

Why don't you take a picture of the keyboard before disassembly? You can then use the pic as referance.
I did this when I replaced almost all keys of a faulty A2000 keyboard with the ones from a A1200 keyboard.

Detecting exact position of a key is not a showstopper, I can remember that much (LOL) so I can test almost every key in shell like Save2600. Functional and 'special purpose' keys are left in doubt, how to provoke their respective feedback (currently I have no access to my working A500, just plain A500 with null-modem connected to PC).
I was hoping of some SW capable of capturing calls to intuition which should be enough for verification.

just write a little basic program that returns the key value when pressed.
