Title: Have you owned every production model classic Amiga?
Post by: tone007 on October 29, 2010, 07:03:25 PM
The list I come up with is as follows:

A500
A500+
A600
A1000
A1200
A1500
A2000
A2500
A3000
A3000T
A3000UX
A4000
A4000T
CDTV
CD32

I'm probably forgetting something, let me know and I'll fix it.

Not me, the only one I've never had is the A1500, which seemed to be a UK/Europe? only A2000 with a different label.

I have owned all of those listed, except the A1500.  The last couple added to my list were the A3000T and A2500, but I gave up trying to collect all models and started selling some of my collection over a year ago.  Now I am trying really hard to reduce my collection to under 10 Classic Amiga computers and maybe even 5 or under, but it is hard to see any of them go, even if they are not getting used anymore.

For those of you that remember that I was looking to find a CDTV to replace my dead one, I was lucky (or unlucky if you ask my wallet) to get one of Carl Sassenrath's brand new, never been opened, CDTV's that he sold at the AmiWest 2010 Show.  I opened up the case during the show and had Dale Luck and Carl Sassenrath sign the inside of the top casing and got of picture of them with the signed case too.  Now all I have to do is track down the rest of the original Amiga team (the ones that are still living that is) to get their signatures too and it will be almost like the original A1000 case that has all the signatures engraved, or I should say molded into the inside of the top case.  I doubt "Mitchy" is still around to give me his special signature.

Missing 500, CDTV, 600, 1200 and 3000T. (I don't list the minor versions like 500+, 3000UX and 2500)

All except these...

CDTV
A600
A3000

The A1500 was just an A2000 minus the hard disk & 2 floppies instead...

I guess that 1500 is a real deal-breaker for the US crowd.
Title: Re: Have you owned every production model classic Amiga?

I'm missing:
- A1200HD / HD40
- A2000HD
- A3000
- A3000UX
- A3000T
- A3500T
- 4000T
- CDTV

And yes the A1500 is an A2000 labeled, it's just without a harddrive, but I do have one bought from Tahoe.

And yeah you are forgetting the A600HD, A1200HD40, A3500T and if you want the 3400 and maybe even GBA1000.

Was the 2500 an actual model number? I thought it was just used to refer to a 2000 sold with an accelerator card already installed ?

The label said 2500.

It was just a 2000 with the 2630 though.

No, they are produced models, the 3400 and GBA1000 is another story.
And yes the A2500 is just an A2000 with 2620/2630 and also to run Amiga Unix which also led to the A3000UX.

I guess to own that line up, you have to be a collector extrodinaire
I just happend to pickup an A2500 at the Commodore Clubday for 10 euro, the only thing was that the A2630 seems to be dead.
And the board was pretty damaged by battery leakage, but was shaved from the board with sanding paper.

I had a 600. Currently have a 1200, a 1000, two 500s, two 2000s (well, a 2000 and a 2500), and a 4000. No real interest in buying more and only have the 2000s because I bought them for some cards in them. I'd sell the 500s and 2000s but I'm lazy, and they may find a use some day.

I would argue that 1500, 2000 and 2500 are the same model, as with 3000 and 3000UX. The differences are only the extras included as standard and labelling.

But the 500 and 500+ are different models - I'd go as far as to say effectively different models in similar casings.

Almost. I've owned nearly all the standard models except for the A600, and an A3000T/A4000T. I'm not sure if the Unix types count.

Rumour has it that it was produced simply to mess with the plans of Checkmate Digital's A1500...a replacement 3 box design case and keyboard rehousing kit for the A500.

My answer is no but then I am not interested in A500+ and A4000Ts aren't worth the expense especially as half of them have faulty HD floppys when I ask the sellers! So that leaves A3000 variants and CDTV. Wouldn't mind either of them. Don't really care about the UNIX machines either.

To be honest there wasn't enough difference in models for me. One of A500/1000/1500/2000 and an A1200 or 4000 covers all I need.

Form a hardcore Amiga point of view, NO FREAKING WAY! :roflmao:

But hey, if I could pickup a A2500UX or A3000UX for less than 50 euro's, I'm taking it.
I got my A2500 for 10 euro's and the baby is sitting right next to me.
Just have to find a working A2630, it can be the roms, but I don't think so, cause I swapped these to a A2620 and that card came to life with those roms.
Tahoe suggested to swap those, cause the A2620 had one of the first rom revisions.

Oh yeah don't forget about the A5000! The successor to the A4000. Out of curiosity does anyone know what happened to it?

The A5000 is the holygrail of all classic era amigas  :)

It's like... it's like the A500 with an extra zero on the end!

I've got all principals models, A500 (4) several mobo revisions, A500+ (2), A 600, A1200 (2), A 2000 (2), A3000, A4000D in a tower box and a CDTV, only CD32 and A4000T left.
So I think I can say Yes.... ¿no?
Title: Re: Have you owned every production model classic Amiga?

No A1000 or A3000T? No CD32 or A4000T?  I think that's a no.

So close, though.

I think that A3000D and A3000T are the same computer "basically" there are more differences on A4000D-A4000T (scsi, kickstart, buses) but is the same computer.
Is exactly like A2000 series are the same with more cards.
In A1000 you are right, is the first model, I forget it when writing post.
Title: Re: Have you owned every production model classic Amiga?
Post by: tone007 on October 31, 2010, 05:53:08 PM
The 3000D and 3000T have similar capabilities, but the motherboards are completely different, and obviously the 3000T can fit more Zorro boards and even has room for 5.25" drives.  The 3000T is also much rarer, which makes it a big one to check off of the list.

I've owned at one time or another every item minus:
A3000UX
A500+

Those were simply variations on a base model.

Also have a Minimig and had the CD32 FMV and peggy card. Some hard to find items.

I've missed the A1500, A2000UX, A2500, CDTV, A3000T-040 (i did have the normal T), A4000T. Apart from that, all production Amigas have been owned. :-)

If we don't count the minor variant models, then I've only missed the CDTV and A4000T..

Still have one or more of each of the following: A500, A500+, A600, A1000, A1200, A3000 (I believe it is a UX, but it has been spraypainted black :-/), A4000

I only have an A1200 with a Blizz 030/50 and two backup A1200s. Waiting for the JENS turbos.

Emulation is looking better and better. A trhow away HP XW8000 workstation with the scisi drives and GFX card makes an awfull nice HULU, MAME, DOWNLOADED MOVIE, and Media Center Retro EMU Machine. Especially connected to a 42" lcd. That's my favorite Amiga.

I have my A1200/ A4000 hard drive backed up as a hard file and show friends what is possible on this ancient tech emulated. I do the classic bouncing ball animation demo, while playing mods, editing copy, downloading files with the Ethernet connection  in Final Copy, running Image FX all and ad pro. Amiga KIT on such a setup is stunning.

With Wireless mouse and keyboard of course.

I've had a couple of A1000s, one was (is) an American NTSC version.

The other was a European PAL version.  This one had an added twist because it was originally a French machine complete with Azerty keyboard, to sell it to the UK they put stickers on the keyboard.

I also had an A500+ and a couple of A1200s but that was it - for production machines ;-)

Is the collection considered incomplete if you don't have a copy of Amiga Forever?

Never had a 1500, true 2500, 3000T, 600, or CD32. At one time or another I've had the rest.
With a little luck, I may add an A3000d again soon.

Still have an A500, 500+ 1200 and two CD32s. I'll never sell my A1200 or CD32 (well not both of them) but I may let the others go, I only use the 1200 and the CD32 (and love them both), the others just sit around most of the time.

Stovies are deadly too, along with deep fried pizza but I miss OVD rum most of all. Found all over Scotland but far too rare in England. At least I can still buy Abernethy biscuits....yum. It's like a digestive and a rich tea at the same time, only better.

When I lived in Scotland the deadly food didn't matter, I lived in Peterhead and everyone died at sea falling off the boats. I kid you not! Damned if I would ever be a fisherman.

Hmm... Peterhead eh... and you got out alive...

Afraid the old Bucky is the choice of todays youth over OVD Rum (preferred a bottle of Lannie myself when I was younger). Abernethy biscuits = yum... but ye cannea beat a Carmel Log, Carmel Wafer or a Tunnocks Tea Cake when it come to biscuits... :)

Stovies divides the east and west of Scotland with a great passion, in the west where I come from originally Stovies is a type of watery soup made with links, onions, mince and sometime a few tatties. while in the east where I now live they call tatties and corned beef Stovies, causes quite a few arguments that one does... :)

True about the fishermen, wonder how many life's it cost's just to keep us going in a nice grease soaked Fish Supper...

(PS: you should maybe start smuggling some OVD Rum south of the border, could be a nice little earner that one... ;))

I haven't owned: (only production machines, not listing prototypes)

A600HD/40 (http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=60890)
A1200HD
A1200HD/40
A1500
A2500UX
A2500
A3000UX
A3000T/040
A4000/EC030
A4000T
CDTV

I have owned:
A600HD
A2000A
A2000CR
A3000T
CD32

I still own one or more:
A500
A500+
A600
A1000
A1200
A3000
A4000/030
A4000/040

Having all possible production Amigas visit your desk is not that simple, but if you have a lot of money to spend, it's doable.

More like a de-evolution.. The A3500 was the prototype for the A3000T.

Okay, not much as TONE, but I have a 2, A1200, 1, A600. Can I count my other CBM stuff? If so, I have 1 64C, 1 64 breadbox,
1 C128, and the associated drives x 2. I'd like to have more, like a A1000, A4000 and a C128DCR but I also want to stay
married as well. Wife thinks I am going thru my 2nd childhood. If I had a bigger house or workshop, then I'd try to get
them all... Damn I do want to stay married, I live in VA, and divorce cost/hurts a lot in this state... :roflmao:
