What is some of your favourite TBS games on the miggy ?
A few that spring to mind: Civilization, the Battle Isle games, Historyline, Perfect General, Lasersquad UFO / XCOM (was there ever an american release of the amiga version?) and others.
Games that combine turn based with real time elements are probably okay too (Centurion ?)
Wanted to figure out the Breach series, but have a heck of a time.

I always find my self coming back to Dune II

I always find my self coming back to Dune II
Its a great game but not turn based at all ;)
-
UFO Enemy Unknown as its one of the best computer games ever created on any platform

You know, I waz gunna say the 'zact same thing! But, well, the other guy pointed it out...
As for turn based games, Full Metal Planet was cool. I still hum the main tune every now and then too... ;)
-
I liked Sabre Team back in the days, but I never quite liked this genre.
-
I like Total Chaos. It's almost becoming a classic IMHO. + its free :-)
-
Hilt II !!!
-
UFO Enemy Unknown is the best I've played, but the freeware game MechForce is pretty good!

UFO: Enemy unknown

+1 on both games. UFO Enemy Unknown is a great single player game although a faster system makes it much more enjoyable. MechForce really shines when playing with friends and playing with friends is always more enjoyable than playing alone ;).
I also enjoyed Warlords and most of the SSI turn based D&D games too.

Colonization and Warlords
-
Empire, crap graphics but great gameplay.

Note to self: When EgillSkallagrimsson proposes an alliance where I charge the fire breathing dragon while he stays put "to guard the rear"... don't trust him!.

Hi,
I liked NUKE war, It came from the desert, Defender of the crown, and also Soliton, and Megaball, Soliton and Megaball are usually the first games I put on my Amiga. The third game to go on my Amiga is Crazy 8's . Then OK I go crazy over DOOM.

Hmm.... One of my favourite genres indeed.
A few old classics that already has been mentioned springs to mind.
However, for being "new", and still in development, and for one game
never beeing the same ever (and multiplayer-func. of course), I'd go for
TotalChaos AGA!
(Still waiting for a CGX/P96-version with online-play) :rtfm:

UFO is one of the best games ever, but it's painfully slow on ANY Amiga including 060. When you are e.g. cleaning a very large ship and you have the view raised to the "3rd floor" the scrolling and cursor reactions slow down to a crawl. It's much faster on a PC (and I'm talking about 486...).
-
many many years ago I was addicted to UFO enemy unknown.
The port to amiga must have been really crudely and cheaply done
because of the slowiness. When attacking alien bases
it usually took about 3 hours just to get your squads
down into the main hallways.
Then I found "Chaos" which was like a perfect strategy game for me.
Then came "Chaos Heavy" which quadruplicated everything
that was good in Chaos and added lots more.
Now there is "Total Chaos" and I am in heaven.
Other strategy games of any sort is really boring compared.
You actually need to use your brain in this one.
You could say it is like UFO enemy unknown
if UFOEU had 10 times more variety in weapons,
telekinesis abilities, tornados throwing things in every direction,
multiplying alien gooey blobs trapping in the soldiers,
lifesucking aliens, action option to eat the dead aliens for extra life,
a device to create a temporary wall somewhere (force field),
quad bikes or similar to ride so that you cover more ground faster,
and more science fiction replacements
for everything that is in Total Chaos. (too much to remember)
It is my personal opinion that there wont be any strategy game
made that is any better than Total Chaos until like 2090.

Hello people
Total Chaos AGA rulexx!
-
The Classic, Defender of the Crown !! by Cinemaware.
-
Total Chaos AGA, no doubt. ;-)
-
Colonial Conquest 2. It was free as well if I remember correctly, and Amiga only.
-
Defender of the Crown was a classic but the best ever and one I still play to this day, Sword of Aragon. Best turn based fantasy strategy game I have ever played.
-
According to Retro Gamer (http://www.amiga.org/wiki/Retro_Gamer) magazine, "Sword of Aragon is considered by many to be the best fantasy wargame ever."[14] (http://www.amiga.org/forums/#cite_note-13)

Your internet posting privileges have been revoked good sir. Please ponder your sins while your punishment is being calculated.
It may take a while, we calculate them one turn at a time :)

Anyway, a number of excellent suggestions for games that I'll have to try in this thread.
