Title: Carl Sassenrath bringing "Amiga Stuff" to AmiWest 2010!
Post by: illy5603 on October 22, 2010, 08:27:44 PM
Say WHAT? This could be really really cool (http://amigaprez.wordpress.com/2010/10/22/carl-sassenrath-bringing-amiga-stuff-to-amiwest2010/)! I will post updates here live from the show with what these items might be. I am also heading to the ATM...

***EDIT*** Check the above blog for updates. Don't want to steal prez's thunder.

Wow! I wonder what he's bringing. Commodore branded floppy disk shaped ashtrays? The suspense is killing me. I so wish that I could be there! Now I wish that I had not bought so much Amiga stuff so that I would have had the money for a plane ticket.

(P.S. It's still not too late... should there be any philanthropists looking to do something nice with their disposable income.)

Can't wait to hear Carl tomorrow. Getting my stuff together and heading over to the classic clinic in 30 minutes or so.

I hope somebody's planning on posting a full inventory (with pictures!) of his goodies!  ;-)

@illy5603

Ah! So now I can tie a handle to a face :-) The Spellbound is sweet. Love the wood-mounted CD-ROM. (I think Carl was a little sad to see it all go, despite not being a collector himself.)

Well here are the highlights!

  • An Amiga 1000 Prototype *Sold*
  • An Amiga AA3000 Prototype *Sold*
  • An Amiga CD32 Prototype "Spellbound" Board and Debug Card *Sold*
  • An Amiga CDTV CR *Sold*
  • 3 NOS CDTV's Sealed in Box. *1 Sold*
  • 1 NOS CDTV Professional kit sealed in box. *SOLD*
I ended up with the CDTV CR and Spellbound Systems and will link photos tomorrow.

That CDTV-CR looked amazing!  I don't know what the selling price was, but I bet it wasn't cheap, considering that it is slightly rare, or at least more rare than a regular CDTV and it looked like it was brand new.

An update to the list above, all 3 brand new CDTV's, sealed in their original boxes and protected by secondary outside heavy cardboard boxes have been sold (I bought the last one.........sigh...........just could not resist, or stop myself, even after swearing that I would not buy any more Classic Amiga computers and that I am trying to reduce my collection of Amiga's to something less than 10.  The brand new CDTV is gorgeous and even the box is in absolute MINT condition!  I also purchased the last ever brand new "NTSC" A1200 that AmigaKit plans to sell.  Matthew has only one more NTSC, but said he plans to keep that one for himself, as he wants to keep a NTSC A1200 for trouble shooting & testing purposes to use with peripherals, so he can match what customers have, if they live in NTSC lands).

Now I really have to get on-the-ball regarding selling, or auctioning on eBay, the rest of my Amiga collection that I want to get rid of, to get me down to my goal of less than 10 Amiga's, including Classic & Next Gen (AmigaOS4.x & MorphOS2.x & AROS/Amithlon/AmigaXL) Amiga/Amiga-Like computers.

The A1200 is going to stay in it's box as a spare/back-up computer to replace my current A1200/1260@50MHz w/256mb RAM & wireless network card computer, when it dies, since the jerk here that I traded my last pristine A1200 to for his (unknown to me) faulty A500+, just because I wanted to have an A500+ in my collection, as they are sort of rare here in the USA.  Learned my lesson on that tragic trade!

The AmiWest 2010 Show is half over and has been GREAT!  But it is disappointing that the number of people here is much less than I had expected, even if it is 50% or more than the number of people that were here last year.  I was expecting at least a 100% increase from last year and had hoped for as much as a 200% increase for this year.  If you are considering attending on Sunday, but are not sure about coming, don't hesitate!  Carl Sassenrath and Dale Luck are still here as well as Jens of Individual Computers (who is showing off a working prototype one of his future accelerators, the one for the A600 & it looks like a very nice, must have item), the Frieden brothers, Trevor Dickenson, and the rest of the AmiWest regulars.  Great prizes are going to be awarded and/or given away on Sunday, so get here some how and join us for a great day.

It was a bargain (with respect to the probable selling price on eBay). I also know the price of the new CDTVs was based on how much Cindy got for the CDTV-CR, so there's a hint. ;-) I think all the prototype kit went for a song, really.

You are VERY lucky to get a CDTV-CR.  Did you ask Carl how many were made? I think less than 10.  If you can post some photos of it that would be great.

Did Carl tell you anything else about the CDTV-CR? Why didn't C= release it?  I think it was basically done.

@HammerD

It wasn't me. See illy5603's answer above. I just happened to be standing next to him when he bought it. Cindy wasn't really taking bids, so it first come, first serve. I think they could have gotten more than they did if they'd held an impromptu auction (with proceeds to charity, maybe? or not--they've got to make a living, after all). I wanted one of the new CDTV boxes and the CDTV Professional kit, but there's no way I could justify it to my wife. Too much junk already. ;-)

An Amiga AA3000 Prototype *Sold*

:drool:

Would love to see pictures of that! I'm still kicking myself for not buying the one SoftHut had some 6 or 7 years ago.

You will. DA9000 here on the board was the buyer, and he and I will be firing it up in the days and weeks to come.
