Hey, where is a good place to ask about Commodore peripherals? In particular, I have a couple of SD-2 drives and I purchased a dual-copy upgrade kit that I am finally getting around to installing.
The instructions say to install in U3, which is usually empty. But the included schematics show that U3 is used for the SD-2, giving the drive (apparently) 6k. So, my thought is that I will install it in U4 which shows unoccupied in the schematics, supposedly to give me 8k. The question becomes, is this wasteful for the dual-copy option or anything else? Or perhaps I will just save the extra 4016 for another project.
(And U3 is definitely occupied on the board.)

I'd try lemon64.com or #c64friends on irc.newnet.net.

Freakin' awesome, thank you. There is actually a thread from 2006 on Lemon64 asking the exact question. Looks like a good forum to join.

For specific hardware questions, a great person to ask is Commodore hardware repair guru, Ray Carlsen. BTW, he works on MSD drives, too.
